    Ubly Drags Yesterday

Lots of bikes and lots of racing! More crotch rockets than ever and saw one Warrior.

Ran a new personal best of 11.75 @ 113 and slip is in the gallery. Made it to 3rd of elims and lost to a slower bike by .014!!! Newbie lesson learned - play it closer with your dial-in!

There will be another event in 4-weeks "Harleys Against the World" --seriously! All good fun and open to everyone. $10 and you can run as many times as you would like. They need to see more Warriors!!

Good time, shame it isn't a warrior.

    Just kidding. Nice job.

    Sharp,

You'd have had fun. The sole Warrior was waterfordwarrior and we only had the briefest chance to talk.

A wide range of skill sets and different bikes there. Busas to baggers and total newbs to experienced racers. In fact, a bagger won the elimination.

Local inde shop owner named Dave Cox running a 124" beast and a 11.20 dial in. His last 4 runs were: 11.21, 11.22, 11.22, 11.24 and he was making it look easy.

Saw several 120s and 124s and they're something to see when well-ridden. I lost 5 out of more than 20 races: one to a 120, one to a 124, one to a drag bike, one to a sled and the elim.

When I raced the 120, I hole- shot him pretty good and was well-ahead into third. Thought I had it in the bag as I'd never been caught that late in a race - well, that guy passed me running STRONG and I could see exactly what an extra 22 cubes do! Later found out he's dynoed 140/150. Running a Wood cam with .750 lift and built by a very experienced shop! Street-driven and looking pretty plain-jane -- but a 10-second bike!

Ditto the 124 - we left about the same, with him slightly ahead... and then he started pulling away. I was hooked up and pulling hard, but my little 98" was outclassed.

The sled was a trip! A screaming two-stroke that ran low 10 second passes. He smoked everyone and it wasn't even a race. The light went green and he was gone. Done. Game over. Never saw anything like it!

Anyway - I'll post something when they'll be at it again. You'd have spanked your share and met some good folks.

A few years back a friend of mine built a drag sled. He had the 670cc Rotax built and dynoed at 175hp. All stripped down, this thing barely weighed 300lbs. It is the only machine that I have ever ridden that scared me.[:0] I was not ready for the violent nature of the take off. Just ridiculously fast. Ever since then, I always have to chuckle when hear people talk about race day and the snowmobiles that were there. The outcome of those races is usually the same.

    Mega -

Looks like you're putting down some strong numbers with your build, what have you run?

    Bogger -

It looked to me like those little wheels on the skis don't allow for much control at all. The sled driver was shifting his body to keep control and was barely maintaining it IMO. You could see the thing going side-to-side. Absolutely amazing at how quickly it went down the track and it would be interesting to see what kind of Gs they pull off the line.

I have my bike at Ironhorse stables right now...Dav Cox is workin on my bike ..... seems that the cam bearings are all toasted as well as my cam plate...lol....i guesss thats what happens when an idiot builds a motor and doesnt build the WHOLE motor....looking at getting the teimkin (sp) bearing as well so it should be bulletproof....but if i go full bore then i will go with the biggest cam i can get which is a 650 lift and that should put the little 103 making about 130 hp.....ill update ya as things progress....

Well, you're going to have one badazz bike! I've been out to Cox's shop and spoken to him a few times about builds, etc. I went out there to see if there were any tweaks that would get all there was out of mine. He is one nice, knowledgeable guy and that's probably the cleanest bike shop I've ever set foot in.

FWIW, have you considered going to 117 via a set of Axtel or Millenium cylinders? WTF, you're already neck deep and you'll be damn glad you did. Besides -- what's another grand when we're talkin' TORQUE!!! LOL!

.650 lift cam... which one? T-man? What heads? ...and Dave likes S&S carbs. Ya switching over? Going chain?

I'm excited as hell for ya! I've definitely got the bug, but want to get some use out of the work I've done, so will stand pat a few more seasons... I think - LOL!!! Tell ya what- those bulk motors got my attention!! Cox was killin' all comers, including an 1100 Kawi. Cox had the lower dial-in so the Kawi had the head start -- and Cox beat him down!!! I would like to know what his bike will do without holding back because I have to believe he was!

Fill me in here and/or I'll try calling ya.
