Default Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!!!

So I have a 2005 Warrior with the cherry flame paint job. Something about the huge chrome badges on the gas tank bothers me... I don't think it's the chrome so much as the dark pink coloring that seems to outline them. The bike has 13k miles and was sold to me a month ago as 'always garaged'. Judging by the condition, I believe it was. So now for my question... Do you think the paint will be sunbleached, resulting in a clear dark outline of the badges if I take them off? My options are; 1) leave them alone, 2) try to paint them with a flat black plastidip and see if I like that look, or 3) take 'em off. If I take them off I know I will never be able to put them back on as well as they are on there now.

Anyone do this and find the paint is a different darker shade underneath?

There have been members over the years to take them off or buy them from another member and put them on. I just don't remember anyone saying that the paint had faded around their badges.

On the orange bike we used ones like yours and stripped the red.

On the blue bike it has the black edged ones that were available on later models.

I like the look of the badges, to me it looks too plain without them

On most bikes I totally agree with you, especially if the paint is a single color. But with mine having the flames I'm quite happy with how she came out.

I got a spare tank filled on one side and painted, and he painted over the badge on the right side. You can barely see it thru the black/purple flames. Looking for pics, stored tank!
