Default starter solinoid

how would you energize the starter solenoid manually?
2002 xv1600, seems like the two of the four pins could be crossed to activate the starter??

NOT SO! You can create a dead short

3 of the 4-Pins are +12vdc Positive Polarity (Red, Red & Red/White wires)
The Blue wire is Negative 12vdc Polarity for the Starter Relay Coil that is triggered by the Starter Push Button.
The Red/White wire is the Positive Polarity of the Starter Relay Coil.

My methodology follows for a Known GOOD Starter Relay:
I would suggest unplugging the Ignitor Unit (ECU) to prevent Feed-Back.
Bike in Neutral
Ignition Key-ON with Known GOOD Ignition Fuse & Battery.
Jumpering Blue wire to Battery Ground will energize Relay.

You'll want to take note that the Road* uses a Relay Unit to validate some of the Pre-Start Interlocks before enabling the Starter Relay!

Hope the above info puts you on the proper path
