Indeed! Everyone should take a moment to say a silent prayer for those who lost loved ones, and for those lives lost during the tragic event...
Should the American flag be hung out today? Half mast or what?
Joe
Yes we put up a flag a couple of days ago. Lets never forget this day. I remember it well as I saw the second plane live on TV when it hit. It was shortely after 6am that morning and the only reason I was up that early was becaus emy father called within minutes of the first plane striking as he knew I was in NY several times in 2001, with one of my customers having their offices in one of the towers. I was up on top in the bar several times that year.

There is no place in this world for terrorist. None.
I remember the day that happened. My son and myself were sitting in a Barber Shop getting our hair cut. When the first plane hit everyone thought it was a freak accident. I still remember sitting there watching "live" when the second plane hit Tower 2. That was the day America Stood still and we all felt very vulnerable and uncertain what was going down....

The flag should be hung out every day and taken in every night unless illuminated. Displaying the flag is your preference. But if you do take the time to know the guild lines.

For a full details.

The flag I have has great sentimental value to me, and is only flown on special occasions. I see a lot of people that fly it everyday and leave it flying until it's ragged. I'd rather they didn't fly it at all. It really gets my blood boiling.
Thank you very much for the link.

It is also a pet peeve of mine. Even gone so far as to stop and talk to the owner of a particularly ragged flag and helped take it down. I think everyone should at least know the basics. And knowing is half the battle-GI Joe. [/emoticons/emotion-2.gif]

I saw a kid take his parents flag off there car and offer it to a guy who had a ragedy flag on his truck.. The guy apologised to the kid and thanked him.. I just stood there to make sure everything went OK and felt moved when it did..
Never Forget.
Gentlemen,
On that day I was coming from a dentist appointment here in jersey city, walking and my cellphone goes off, it was my job activating all JCPD officers to respond, to their respective districts, so at the district they requested volunteers to form up a team of personnel of whom were prior military so we can go into the city. Of course I agreed. I responded to the JCPD command post by the Exchange Place Path terminal about to board the train when we got delayed by about 4 to 5 minutes when suddenly the first tower came down, we were just minutes from the city and a few seconds after the path tunnel connecting the two cities caved in with the train we were about to board was crushed when it arrived at world trade center. If not for the delay we would not be here today. We still crossed over this time by ferry from the New york waterway and some by coast guard and some by patrol boats from NYPD. When assembled at ground zero Tower two came down, Well the rest is a sad piece of history. We were now ordered to assist with evacuating the citizens of whom were still alive and to assist with security for these people and provide for them anything they needed, these people were taken from NY to NJ via the Ferries. Guys these people were shells without souls, some knew not what happened, some in shock, others in pure terror, most were injured from varing degress...
At close to the early evening hours, the hardest task at hand, the transportation of the remains. I will not even attempt to describe that.

This country at times even myself, have lived in a sense of arrogance, that we are so mighty and that stupid belief that nobody has the balls to touch us in any way shape or form, this country and myself will never ever feel that arrogant again. And now for myself I've had the opportunity to sign up for the JCPD Rapid deployment force funded by FEMA and the DEPT OF HOMELAND SECURITY in an effort to keep this type of occurance of ever happening again, because I truly will never Forget. I am a father of three kids and I have instilled in them to also never forget and to count their blessings that their daddy is still here today, condsidering some daddies never came home.

May God bless the families, the survivors and the children of 9/11 and may God bless the red white and blue.

pride aside, a raged flag being flown is more a sign of disregard, not necessarily disrepect, for those whose blood was lost for it...

Sorry... it's the way I feel... a tattered flag should be retired and brought down from the flag pole.. just as any flag should not fly overnight if not illuminated from the ground...
bigbear2592 that is very touching. Thank you for reminding all of us in a very grim way what our country is about and what we stand for and that we should never forget!!!!
This topic is not about who, when and why and where or how we should fly a flag........please keep it on topic. Thank-you!
No Sir. I am Not......
