Built a custom core support + adaptors for a 90 Taurus 2 speed fan & a custom cross flow aluminum radiator.

Will connect the trans cooler today & fire it up for the first time :)

Those are great cheap fans. I have used that fan as well as a Mark VIII with DCC fan control to keep everything in check. Looking good.

Waited for the local church to let out before starting it for the first time figured it would be a bit noisy right out of the headers. All cylinders work.

No fan control am using 2 of 70 amp relays. Low speed fan for coolant triggered with a 212* GM grounding switch in the cyl head. High speed will trigger with the AC clutch.

Not wanting a fancy SS street rod coolant recovery tank or a cheap looking plastic container I made my own coolant recovery system. Cap & weld bung from Speedway, SS exhaust tube from a parts bin, misc parts / material from shop inventory.

Build criteria for this ride is function over form.

Game plan was to drive it for its 60th birthday made the deadline with 3 days to spare.
Backed it out of the shop today & made a few laps around the field, first time it has moved by its own power in 13-14 years.
Steering wheel retaining nut is in a box up on a shelf so I left it off figuring I would just put around for a few minutes but the motor sounds real healthy with the Gen 1 Speed Star mufflers so I throttled it just a little & the steering wheel popped off, put it back on & kept rolling.

Sucker sure is ugly in fact F'n UGLY. Will put it in black primer & run it as a rat rod next year.

Progress is always satisfying. Gotta get a clip of it running up on youtube so we can hear it. A suggestion, if I may ... primer absorbs moisture, why not plasti dip? Rat rod look and metal preservation at the same time. You can get it in gallons in just about any color now. For reference, that's 4 month old plasti in the picture.

Maybe do a sound clip after I fab the tail pipes.

Truck looks good, dip is an option however I have a gallon of epoxy primer + 2 quarts of activator on the shelf, @ + 4 bills for those products I'll use them up first. Epoxy primer seals the metal the gray on it now is epoxy primer blew it on maybe 12 years ago. PPG DP90LF is the black primer.

Took the 57 for its first street ride yesterday about 12 miles without a windshield. Like riding a bike but just a bit more comfortable.
Stayed off the main highway = no cops. It needs a posi rear end @ 1/2 throttle from a dead stop it will buzz one rear tire. Just a shake down run to bed in the piston rings & brake pads, check trans operation, rattles etc. All is well it rolls through the twistees better than my Expy. Put a tow chain in the Expy just in case I needed the Mrs. to meet up & drag it home.

Windshield is still boxed will install it next week then its play time on the highway.

May put the rest of it in black primer BUT its ugly & its beginning to grow on me.
