Hey all, you've got a GREAT site going here, but you already knew that!!! [/emoticons/emotion-1.gif]

I found your forums just over a week ago after finding an '02 Warrior for sale at a local Honda dealer and started doing research. I made the mistake of…well…looking at it and now I'm hooked! I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad, but the guys at the dealership don't seem to know too much about it. I asked one guy if the recall work had been done and he said "'I'm sure it has, I don't think we're allowed to put it out if it hasn't." When asked about what mods had been done he listed off everything we were both standing there looking at. I know it's probably because of the paint job (see pics below), but they're asking $9,999. I'm sure they're hoping someone will fall in love with it and not be able to walk away! I haven't ridden it yet as I know that'll be the last straw and I'm doing my best not to get carried away! I don't want to get screwed (no kidding, right?) as that'd put a real damper on my enjoying the ride. Here are her stats as I know them;

'02 Roadstar Warrior
Custom paint
10,600 miles
Mods: (as you can see from the photos)
Pipes: I'm guessing Samson's based on pics in another post
Seat: Corbin
Various chrome sparkley's: breather(s), covers, handlebars, grips

Based on #'s from Kelly Blue Book and my own best guesses, I'm thinking the top value on this bike is probably more in the $8000 range!?!

I know it's impossible to tell anything's value from just a picture, but any comments/advice anyone has for me would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Knighthawk

Nice ride! 10,000 is alot of miles and a high price especially if you don't know the history. Having said that the guys here say this bike is indestructable. I never worry too much a paying a little more than something is worth if it is what I really want. Take look on ebay and the classified section here. It will give you an idea of what different warriors are worth. I made the mistake of going to a Yammi dealer and got a brand new one.

I wouldn't pay that price for it.. but to each his own.

I'd go no more than $8500 knowing that it would have to be re-painted. Keep in mind that the seat on it is worth nearly $800 alone.. if bought new.. Scavenge around like me tho and you can find it for less than 1/2 that.. LOL...

All in all, it boils down to what you want and what you're willing to part with to get it. No matter what, you will NOT be sorry that you got a Warrior.. /emoticons/emotion-1.gif

Thanks everyone for all your advice and comments!

I visited a Yamaha dealer as well and found a brand new '06 on their showroom floor. They had already installed aftermarket pipes and something (the name eludes me at the moment) they said connects to the bikes computer and compensates for the changes the pipes make. They wanted $12,600 for it which is a little out of my price range, but still gives me more of feel for the value of the '02.

I'm in LV, NV where we can ride year-round which may account for the higher asking prices. Most likely the Honda dealer doesn't think the '02 is worth 10k either, it's just a sales ploy. Set the asking price high and let the buyer negotiate you down. You get what you wanted for it anyway, but the buyer feels better about paying it because they were able to talk the price down.

8k OTD is what I'll shoot for!

Thanks again!

dealers are always out to make as much as possible, local dealer has an 05 with lots of addons for $16K+ no way it's worth that but factoring labor and that's what it would cost you to have them do it to a new bike AND pay MSRP...

bottomline is what is it worth to you? personaly I wouldn't pay more than $8500 for that bike but if you like it, it would be hard to get one with custom paint and the parts the same way. I'm currently trying to help my brother find a bike for the right price the way he wants it and it's tough this time of year to get a good deal but they are out there if your patient.

good luck though, you'll love the Warrior it's such a great bike

Knighthawk, You are right about the prices of Warriors here in Vegas. I am in the process of looking for a Warrior for my brother and I think they run a little higher here in town. You could always go out of state, but then you have scheduling and other issues to worry about.

My advice is if you like the bike, keep telling the dealer that you do. Just let them know the price is not right and you'll keep looking. Give them your home telephone # and after a couple of weeks of calling they will be begging you to come get it. Go back a week later and find the same sales guy. Tell him/her how you just keep thinking about the bike but you have a limit. If they know they have a buyer, it kills them. Can you wait longer than them?
