Hi guys! I don't have my warrior yet, but I will be getting one in the spring next year. I've just joined now so I can be as informed as possible when I go pick my warrior up. Here's a little history on me so you know where I'm coming from.

For starters, I have ridden motorcycles for about 12-13 years, averaging betwwen 6k - 12k miles per year. In all those years I have never ridden anything even remotely resembling a cruiser until this morning. I've owned a couple Katanas, an '03 FZ1, '04 VFR, and currently own a 2002 Honda Blackbird (CBR1100XX).

Well for the past year, I have been seriously eyeballing the Warrior and I just could not understand what it is that would draw me to that bike! Sure it's a beautiful cruiser, but c'mon...I'm a sportbiker! I like railing the curves and skyrocketing up to insane speeds! Well lately, that just hasn't been doing it for me...I had begun to lose my enjoyment for riding....not that I dislike riding...but I wasn't getting that elated feeling anymore. So I figured "What the ****...I'll try the Warrior so I can at least stop thinking about it and move on." That was the first mistake.

So this morning I called up my dealer (whom I'm friends with) and asked him if he could prep the Warrior for a test ride. Once he recovered from his initial shock that I would actually want to ride a cruiser, he told me he'd have it ready in about 45 minutes. So I did a few things and headed up to the dealer for the test ride. That was the second mistake. /emoticons/emotion-1.gif

The test ride:
Now I'm not going to lie...I was quite apprehensive and intimidated when I went to leave the dealership on a test ride on that bike. As I said before....I have NEVER ridden a cruiser...always sportbikes. So the ergonomics were completely foriegn to me. Even after a 30 mile test ride, I was still missing the footpegs when picking my feet up from a stop. /emoticons/emotion-4.gif The ride however, was nothing short of glorious. I really just don't even know how to explain. Everything just felt right as rain. I took a few high speed sweepers, did some low speed manuevering, and tried out emergency breaking so I could get an idea of how everything would handle on the bike in verious situations. The closest I could come to explaining how I felt is if you try to remember the first time you really ever got out and rode a motorcycle. You're thinking to yourself..."Wow...I'm really doing it! This is great!!" It was honestly the most fun I've had on a bike in years...and that's saying a lot.

So, I put my bike up for sale this morning...and will soon be posting it in the classified ads on this forum. Bonus and tax time fall at roughly the same time of year for me and I will be the owner of a Warrior by the end of April. Riding season is pretty much over here anyways, so it's not THAT big of a deal for me to wait until April.

So thats it in a nutshell. I just want to say you guys have a top notch site here and I have gleaned alot of good information over the past week of combing through the threads. I only have one immediate question that I would like answered as I couldn't find the info anywhere. Is there any difference between the '05 and '06 model years? Thanks in advance.

As far as personal info...I'm 38, married (15 years) and have 3 boys and 2 dogs. Boy's ages are 11, 8, and 3. They're a sheer joy to be around and they seem to have taken an interest in mototrcycling as well. I hope to get them a dirtbike to beat around on in the next year or two. Thanks again for the great site...sorry if this is long winded, but I thought you would appreciate all the info!

I'm a new Warrior owner, but have loved it since '02. I put 20,000 miles on my old bike, but all 3 previous street bikes of mine have been Vtwin cruisers (Shadow, Virago, and Yamaha Special II), so I was doing the opposite. I test rode a Vrod, Honda ST1100, and a Goldwing, but couldn't deny the pull of the Warrior. I also have and 8 year old who loves to ride with me. We rode 19 hours on my Shadow Labor Day weekend, even though it was cold and rainy. He likes the Warrior too, but demands swithing the stock seat for the touring seat when we ride. We both have dirt bikes too. So, put these two things on your calander: Springtime: buy Warrior. August: ride to Sturgis. Sturgis is Vtwin heaven!

Heath3n,

Welcome to the forums!

You're kind of like me...I was a sport bike fan...Or should I say a fellow crotch-rocketeer. [/emoticons/emotion-5.gif] But, unfortunately the long arm of the law put a dampener on my riding, via my wife. She said "One more ticket and the bike goes!" Oh well...You live and learn..

Anyway I had a 94' Kawasaki ZX-7R...Loved that bike!

So finally when I cleaned my driving record up, took a Motorcycle Safety Rider course (Which I highly recommend), find some good, cheap insurance and convinced my wife to allow me to get another street bike. One of her requirements were that I don't get another crotch-rocket. Which was O.K. by me because, like you I had kind of lost interest in them and was actually looking at a sport cruiser. It took me almost 2-1/2 years before I finally decided that the Warrior was the bike I wanted. Man! I looked at a lot of bikes from the Honda VTX1800, the Mean Streak, the V-Rod, the Victory Hammer and even a few Custom-Built models. But I always seem to go back to the Warrior...Anyway I finally narrowed it down to the Warrior and the VTX1800 and after carefully weighing the pros and cons of both bikes. The WARRIOR was the clear choice for me...

So BAM! Here she is...

I love my Warrior!! [/emoticons/emotion-2.gif] As far as, I am concerned nothing touches it, or even comes close to the Warrior. My friends can talk about how bad their Harley's are and I even have a friend who recently bought a Victory Hammer. But when we get together for a ride or go to an event. I always have more people looking at and asking me about my bike then they have.

Well...I wish you luck on getting your Warrior, you won't be disappointed when you do. And when the mod bug bites...And it will...You'll be the envy of ALL...

As for your question...I have an 05' and I believe the 06' are about the same. Not 100% sure though...You can do a search here and you may find a more definite answer to your question. But, again I'm thinking there isn't much of a difference between the two years.

Yep, just got one myself. Only 300-odd-something miles on it so far but I think it's going to be one of my favorites. I'm 48 and bought my first bike with lawn-mowing money at the ripe old age of 13. This is my 37th bike. They get better all the time, don't they? This one is comfortable to ride and handles very well.

Welcome to the forum from another new guy. Have fun on that new bike. I am. [/emoticons/emotion-2.gif]

Welcome to the forum Rob. Was very pleased to see you take the time to feel the bike out, now your in the know. Hopefully your dealer friend will let you do it again on some warm days that fall through the winter. Being a Warrior rider is not easy, you will have to deal with looks of envy and of confusion. You will be asked, what is it, more times then you can imagine. Lastly, you are among some of the brightest motorcycle enthusiast by joining this forum. I'm sure your up to it. /emoticons/emotion-1.gif

Welcome! Alot of guys and gals here are sport bike converts. As far as I know the only difference between the 05 and 06 is that is come stock with the custom cables and radial brakes. Also comes in the cobalt blue and red with the racing stripes and black. Teh cobalt blue happens to be the best looking and the fastest!

Wow! Thanks for all the warm welcomes everyone. This is already looking like a great forum to spend time on. Sounds like a few of you have had similiar experiences to my own...I guess that means I'm not crazy! /emoticons/emotion-4.gif I've been looking through the gallery and the bikes I'm seeing are absolutely stunning! Can't wait until I can begin adding my own warrior pics to the albums.

On a side note....I'm usually sleeping during the day as I work 3rd shift...so mornings and evenings are when you'll see most of my posts....rarely during the day. And if anyone could direct me to some nice pics of bikes with the mini-fairing on them, I would be very appreciative. I've seen a few, but none that really give me a good idea of exactly how the mini-fairing will look from the front/side of the bike when mounted. Thanks again for the welcomes everyone..I'm looking to forward to being able to say I OWN a warrior when April rolls around and I have no doubt I'm in good hands on this forum!

Heath3n, Welcome to the 4M. As you will see this is more than a brand specific motorcycle forum. It is a family.

I got my Warrior in '03 as an '02 left over. There were not any used ones at that time. Your best deal is a used one. Then use the left over cash for Mods.

Enjoy, and welcome.
