The bike will run but run very lean. Some people have hacked into the stock ECU to adjust fuel.

i've got Samson Slashers, BAK, etc. and WAS using the TFI. BUT...last week i decided to start experimenting with the ECU re-programming.

AND...i'm having VERY good luck using the ECU setup. I've re-progm'd twice and the second time i think i've got it right on. I'll wait a few more rides and check the plugs again. Right now they are turning a nice chocolate brown which is ideal.

One thing about re-progrm'g the ECU over the TFI...i can set each cylinder at a diff #. Since the front (#2) cyl runs cooler...therefore just a bit leaner than the rear (#1) cyl...i've got mine set at...#1 +6 and #2 +7.

This also eliminated the...once-in-awhile pop i was getting during upshifting.

The TFI is now in the spare parts box.

i have the pro pipe and bak with no tfi or pc111. my plugs always look good, and i don't feel any large power loss though out rpm range. although i do get some backfire on the up shift. is adjusting the ecu a hard job are something best left to the pros

 

as far as crossing the wires i have heard some say that the colors are different from bike to bike is this true and if so do i just go by the wire location

I noticed in those insructions that there is no mention of disconnecting the negative lead on the battery, but this is mentioned in a different set of instructions. Is this necessary?

 

i've reset my stock ecu several times, and have yet to disconnect the battery
