Lads I'm coming across a problem losing power at speeds of over 140 if sustained for a period of 30 seconds to a minute. Seems to worsen of the engine/ air temp is high.

Rpm etc still shows on the dash.

If i roll off throttle and give it a few turns it'll fire back up after 10 or 15 seconds. By then my speed is dropping back to say 120 or so.

Fuz suggested it could be coils. Another local Yamaha mechanic says he's seen it happen on warriors and it turned out to be fuel pump.

I figure if i can find these parts for the right price i may as well just replace them all. She's got 58,000 on the clock now. 05 model.

Any suggestions, parts, ideas or someone that's experienced this exact problem before would be much appreciated.

I hope you're all well and finding good times out on the road at the moment. Look forward to hearing from someone soon. 馃

Hey mate, thanks for the suggestion. You mean of they're leaking or what exactly?
There's been many times that 1 has loosened up and isn't fully connected. You just have to disconnect then fully connect them again.

Also check the vent hose from the underseat dry break runs up under the fuel tank. If its kinked, or collapsed by the top tank, then it causes vacuum to build and fuel stops flowing from top tank to bottom tank. Due to vacuum, the injectors get no fuel. One way to discover is to open the fuel filler cap when the issue arises. But come to a stop first!!! If it sucks air when opened, bingo.

140KMH? Probably about 3800rpm right. And happens like clockwork after 30 seconds of steady rpms.
This sounds like a LAS. Lean Angle Sensor. It is on the left side down low near the horn. Pull the plug and clean the contacts. Then see if you can duplicate the behavior. If you can, it probably needs to be replaced or deactivated. Unfortunately it cannot just be removed. There should be alot of write ups on here about it.

I'll bet you have an issue with the LAS (Lean Angle Sensor).
This syndrome is well documented on this forum and also on the R1 forum. When it occurs is it a NECK SNAPPING EXPIERENCE. If not it's the LAS :)
I could instruct you to installing an idiot light, which I did with one member to the fuel pump circuit, but it's easier to just defeat the device for testing purposes :>)
