The new Java client is not working for me, but I think the port's blocked by my company's firewall. I'll try to connect at home.

Is there any way to configure the chat to go through the firewall? i.e. some http proxy thing?

When I get to my other computers I will try and see what ports are being used by the applet.

you do know you can use a program like mirc to get there also -- its not java so you have full access to all the featured of the irc server.

My guess is that is the chat applet is being blocked by a firewall then IRC ports will be too.

Correct, from work I can pretty much only use http or ftp and the rest are blocked.
