clutch switch/sensor on left control ???

only reason i'm asking this is because i just got all my elec wires out of the gray cover and into some barons flexi wrap so for me to chase the elec wires now would be a REAL PAIN.

my switch or sensor on the underside of my clutch lever is not working. only reason i think thats what the prob is, is because my bike wont start in any gear xcept neutral. all i can assume is that when i pull in the clutch the ecu doesnt know its pulled in. logical right? all i can figure is that the sensor is either A.) dead B.) shorted somewhere C.) not connected properly at the other end which i assume is one of the plugs in the headlight bucket. case youre wondering the wires havent been cut or internally wired so that at least rules that out. if i had just internally wired and had this prob i'd be freaking out..hehe.

anyone know which plug i would be looking for under the headlight? would REALLY save me time cutting off and re-installing the wire wrap if someone knows.

also, if that is conneccted properly, any other ideas as to what it is?

thnks guys

Normally the area you just worked on is the first place to look for the problem. Like Frankenstein stated the kickstand is in this same circuit. If the stand is up when you experience this, its probably a loose connection on the clutch sensor wire. Sorry I can't help you right now on its location in the plug. Should be in the service manual. It's a blue connector and the circuit is normally open allowing starts only while in neutral. Black/yellow and Blue/yellow to black/yellow and blue/yellow. In order to start in gear the circuit must be closed at the sidestand(up) and at the clutch (pulled in). Based on your symptoms your diagnosis is correct -it's not connected properly. Make sure the pins aren't reversed.

i DO remember now, that one of the tabs that holds a pin in place (i removed the wires from the plugs to slide thru barons wrap) wouldnt engage properly back into the plug so i used a cople drops of crazy glue to help. 'just in case" so that might be the ONE wire i'm looking for.
