My Warrior idles faster when started now that cold weather is here. Is there a sensor that monitors the engine temperature and tells the ecu to bump the idle up. It drops back to 950 or so after warming up - just wondering.

this bike has more bells & whistles than a freight train. air pressure & temp sensors as well as a lcv all send messages to the computer. as long as it idles at 900 rpm when warm you have nothing to worry about
Ratphlem, what do you know about cold weather? Come to chicago, if your bike is idling high now in Texas, it should be idling somewhere around 2,000RPM in the Chi....
There is a temperature sensor that monitors the air box. With a BAK it mounts on the plate and is pretty much exposed to the outside temp. My idle goes up until the engine warms up, it does this in summer at 105 degrees and in 'winter' at 30 degrees.
I noticed idle speed is higherthan normal when you start the engine (warm or cold) and after about 1 minute it lowers to 950. Something like old choke.
Hi, The Liner Control Valve operates the first idle control system. The engine oil temperature sensor determines when the valve closes. One the engine oil temp is at 80 degrees Celsius the valve fully closes. Hope that helps.
1. Racing season while Patrick and Orient are running these big hulks.
2. Off season when they come here and help us fix everything.
(I'm leaning toward number 2 since that helps me more personally.)
