i have a local guy that has a speed shop and wants to design some warrior stuff.he normally specializes in exhaust, usually for sport bikes.he and i are in a negotiation about what to make.i am not too sure how much input i will have on his designs but he wants to manufacture an exhaust system that produces more torque and hp than the stocker, but he wants a system that people will buy so think about it...what do you want?????
i am going to put my bike back to stock so he can dyno it than he will design either a full system a slip on or both,he won't sell anything with out proven #'s .i want to keep his info private for now but if any of you have ideas, drawings, designs, pipe heighth, diameter.etc please e-mail me your info.understanding of course that its highly unlikely that you would receive any credit
thanks

UPDATE ON EXHAUST i met with the exhaust/speed shop guy today.first of all let me tell you who he is.he is the famous DALE WALKER.any of you sport bike fans heard of him or seen his work?probably so.he has had several write ups in various motorcycle rags.he has won many different competitions in various types of racing.he also the owner of holeshot performance.he really is a down to earth guy though unlike some race folks i have met.anyway we discussed alot of stuff for the warrior.for starters he is going to make a slip on sport bike look can for the warrior.he will most likely off 2 finishes 1 being stainless steel and the other being a special black powder coat.both will have highly polished caps that look like chrome but are ss.i am dropping off my bike this sat.and will pick it up next sat for testing.he has 2 cores available but thinks 1 will be way too loud but some guys like loud so we will be testing both.then after we get the sound we want we will be off to the dyno to make some #'s.i also told him that many myself included don't like that big honkin exhaust brackett,he is planning to look into it.while he said for starters he is only going to do the slip on,he also mentioned that in the future he might make a full system and he was interested in doing a bak.i think he wants to sorta check out the market before he invests alot of money into r & d,as there is a lot of competition.anyway that is all i have for now but if you want more info on Dale check out his website which i beleive is holeshot performance.i think this guy is making some cool stuff for other bikes most notably the suzuki bandit and v-max.he also makes and has patented a couple of shift kits that are operated by air or electricity.
if you have questions please ask me but basically you can count on me posting any related info here.

well guys and gals i am off to Dales this morning.so i will be bikeless for awhile, but i am really excited about the outcome.when my work buddie told me he had afriend that had a shop i was thinking cool.at the time i didn't know who his friend was.then when i met the guy he was way cool.i hope that we can get him involved with this bike a little more.i think he can make an already great bike even better. yeah i know its just a slip on ,no big deal but i think its more than that...evry aftermarket vender that has made anything for the warrior has truly loved the bike.orient express, patrick racing, barons.i think love of the bike inspires product makers to make a better product.we all benefit from aftermarket people who truly enjoy their work and who like the warrior.

spoke with dale last nite and the finished proto type is almost ready.i plan on having the proto type on when i go to street vibrations in reno last week of september.i haven't actually seen the set up yet but he described it to me and sounds good.also the slip on he is making willalso be a part of a full system he plans to offer down the road,he does it this way because if you buy his slip on he doesn't want you to fork out a bunch more dough for a full system.in this way you can wind up with a full system a peice at a time.not sure if we will have dyno #s before i hit reno but there is also another warrior owner involved with helping on this deal.i haven't seen him on this forum yet however.

exhaust update!!!!!!!
dale called me today and everything is ready.thurs day morning we do the install at 10 30 am.unfortuanately we won't have time to dial it in perfect till i get back from Reno....i figure i can get it close enough to suit me on thursday afternoon.we plan on getting together again maybe next weekend to dyno it.what i'llprobably do is see how it runs with the map i am currently using,if that is not satisfactory i give the d&d map a shot maybe richening a little here and there.i feel like i did pretty well on my current set up.anyhow he is going to take some pics and email them to me and i'll try to post them on this site if i have problems i 'll send them to one of you guys cause i'll be kinda busy what with tuning the pc 3 and packing for Reno cause i am leaving early friday am.

well to be truth ful i know i will like the look of it course it'll look a whole lot better as a full system, when he does the headers but i am really interested in the performance and the sound.not to sure how it'll look transitioning from chrome to black might maybe have to mod the heatsheilds in that area where it changes to black but maybe not.i haven't seen the whole mock up yet although dale has when he had my bike he had it altogether just wasn't finished yet.coated.
welli guess i'll know in a couple of days....riding 2 up across the mountains to Reno ought to be a fair test.

Originally POsted by Boogie Man:

i am taking off for Reno tonight so i will post a few comments.as i said before it looks small but i think i am just used to the big can hanging off it.the sound for lack of another word is tighter, more crispthan the modified exhaust i had on.i really like the finish of the can and you can tell alot of skill goes into these on the photos .paul is one **** of a welder all these cans are hand made on site.the polished tip looks cool especailly the turn down tip.i am still having my eye catch where it goes from chrome heat sheild to jetcoated pipe to black powdercoated can.i have only ridden about 75 miles since install.i have more torque,my powerband used to really come on at about 3000-3100 rpm .i am getting the band now at about 2400-2500 rpm and staying up to redline.can't wait to put it on the dyno...next week or the week after unless i can find a decent deal at streetvibrations if they aren't too greedy i have them make a map and do the dyno pulls there i am sure i will have to dick with my map a little going to my bros in lathrop tonight andi will pull the plugs and read them to check for adjustment. it was funny to be there at dales today...he has a few emplyeesworking on shipping,a guy doing cans and while he installed my new pipe he had tools in one hand and a phone in the other talking to various customers needless to say i thought that was cool.well i am sure i'll have more info on performance when i get back from reno....might follow biggums lead and do a little hunting.

Hey it looks better than I thought it would, though that photo kinda covers up what looks to be a big flaw in the layout for the slip-on. That being the pipe does not appear to line up very well with the stock header. It's like he is forcing the use of a standard exhaust strap and that's making him hang the pipe higher than optimal (for looks anyhow). Still looks good though and I'm holding off on getting a pipe to see what the final version will be. It also confirms for me that a racebike exhaust tip looks great too.

After seeing that photo though it makes me think even more so, that a stacked set of two canisters would look GREAT...aka the shotgun pipes on an Aprilia racebike. Though it would have to be a full system and not a slip-on. I made a fast comp image...should I post it?[^]

jf actually the can lines up with the header the way it should, what is throwing you off here is if you look at the heat sheild on the stock header you will notice it is slightly off set, that is the cover is what ruins the line of the pipe...i am thinking of maybe throwing a short chrome heat sheild in there maybe would clean up the look a bit.don't want to spend too much dough because i am sure when we do the header it will all go away in favor of whatever the header finish will be

we are trying to arrange our schedules so we can do some dyno work on the 11th..if all goes well bobinpg the other warrior owner with stock configuration myself and Dale will do some pulls.bobinpg will provide stock #'s and i will provide #'s with holeshot slip-on and bak.at the same time we will make a custom map for the slip-on.i will post whatever we come up with and make those #'s available to all interested parties.this way we should be able to get an idea of what kind of power the pipe is making.to me it feels like a substantial increase in all ranges but i will wait and let the #'s tell the story. this is a tentative scheduling for the dyno,as i am waiting for a response from my employer for that day to be off

ok for those of you who go to both forums this will be old news.for those of you who don't it will be new news[/emoticons/emotion-2.gif]
bobinpg was the warrior owner who supplied the stock bike for dyno #'s.which was recently done i will repost his results here

Thanks to Chuck, aka Boogieman, I have a custom-designed slip-on exhaust from Dale Walker of Holeshot Performance in Santa Cruz, CA. I understand that Dale is prepared to make a production version available. He is looking for folks to e-mail him to gauge demand. I'm not involved with his business in any way, but I will be happy to share my experience with anyone who is interested. Dale's website is:
www.holeshot.com

My criteria for a new exhaust pipe were 1) no loss of lean angle 2) increased performance 3) good looking 4) mean sounding 5) much lighter in weight. I think Dale nailed it with a design that trims off 15 lbs. Installation was straightforward. Materials and workmanship are superior, especially the welds & finish. There are two options, polished and powdercoated. I would have bought the polished one, but once I saw the black powdercoat version on my bike, I was hooked. It is very bad-ass sounding when you roll on the throttle, but you can drive through your neighborhood without setting off car alarms if you need to.

Dale's shop is immaculate and impressive. Dyno results are excerpted below - Dale has the photos, full graphs, and tables. My bike was in a showroom configuration with the PC III disconnected. The stock numbers were the best we could produce. The difference in performance is provided by only bolting on the slip-on with no other configuration change or fine-tuning:

stock: 2500 RPM HP/43.2 TQ/90.8
slipon: 2500 RPM HP/48.7 TQ/102.3

stock: 3000 RPM HP/52.7 TQ/92.2
slipon: 3000 RPM HP/59.6 TQ/104.3

stock: 3500 RPM HP/64.8 TQ/96.6
slipon: 3500 RPM HP/67.7 TQ/101.6

stock: 4000 RPM HP/72.5 TQ/95.3
slipon: 4000 RPM HP/74.0 TQ/97.2

stock: 4500 RPM HP/76.7 TQ/89.5
slipon: 4500 RPM HP/77.4 TQ/90.3

stock: 5000 RPM HP/75.1 TQ/78.9
slipon: 5000 RPM HP/75.0 TQ/78.8

peak stock: HP/76.7 TQ/96.6
peak slipon: HP/77.4 TQ/104.3

Torque was significantly improved. Available horsepower was generally increased throughout the rpm range.

Once again, all credit is due to Chuck. He put this together and I was just lucky he gave me a call. Standing by for questions...

so friday we will dyno my bike and see what the #'s are .i may do some fiddling with the pc3.Dale is not a certified by dynojet and does not have the necessary software to do a custom map,at least not yet.i feel i am pretty close though because ride abilty is good at this point.if i could get a custom map in my area for less than 300 i would consider it but it seems unlikely.anyway if we do the full header system as planned i'd just have to do it all over again anyway.when we do the full header system we will have to do the custom map so that it may be included with the set.if any other folks should buy the slip on from holeshot...i would be happy to chip in for a custom mapthat could be shared

for those of you wanting carbon here's a bit of advice... the guys i know that have v-twin sportbikes (TLR's, RC51's, and Ducati's) complain BIG time about carbon not holding up to the huge power pulse of a monster twin... the cans don't hold up over time and you end up having to replace the outer sleeves of the can periodically... they say for the same price Ti is better and just as light...

i used to like the carbon weave look also, but it has been SO over done on sportbikes that chrome is now my preference for cruisers, and Ti for sporters... i'd love to see a full Ti header on the warrior, it would love mean...
