I just read a question by "audio 77" in reference to PCIII w/ BIG SHOTS. What exactly is a "custom" map? I just put my BIG SHOTS on and my PCIII is on order. Is there a specific map I need and should I change the air breather/cleaner as well? And do I even need a PCIII? I'd appreciate any comments because my knowledge on this subject is quite limited.

The PC III make is easier to adust or change the fuel mixture. Your bike is jetted for a stock pipe and stock airbox. If you make changes to either of those you need to check your fuel setup to keep from running lean or rich. A custom map on the PC III just consist of going to an authorized PC III dyno center and having the Bike dyno'd with your setup and the exact map loaded to your PC III that fits your setup and Location. You will get optimum preformance with a custom map

you can always check the library for a map that fits your configuration. If you decide to go with a BAK then you can reconfig it again. Do you need a BAK, no, only if you want more power. Do you need a pcIII, no, only if you want your bike to run as best as possible for your setup. You can always adjust the ecu to make bike run better and get a pcIII later or not. A custom map is the best way to go once you have done all the mods to your engine that you are going to do. I am using wilskies custom map for my setup and am real happy with it, so much that i am not in a hurry to get my own and to use the money saved on other mods.
