Remember last years trip to Deals Gap in mid September?? I know it's a little early but Judy and I are putting in our reservations for this year. We are staying at Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge which is where we stayed last year with Leezure and his wife and absolutely loved it. It is east of Deal Gap but only minutes away. We are making reservations for the nights of Thursday September 16th thru Sunday night September 19th leaving for home on Monday morning. The web site for Ironhorse is www.ironhorsenc.com. It shows their accomodations, rates, and a map showing their location. The owners are great people. They will even cook meals for you if you give them notice. They have cabins, camping sites (you can rent tents), and a bunkhouse. This motorcycle lodge is new within the last couple of years and the property has a creek running right thru the middle of it that you can see and hear from anywhere you stay.
I hope some of you can make it again this year. We had a blast last year. These dates are open now but don't know for how long.

I think I can convince the wife to head back to the Gap.. We'll stay at Fontana at the lodge just down from the dam. The folks there are really cool to work with and we have enjoyed our stays there before.

Count us in for the ride... it'll make a great combination B-Day/Anniversary getaway trip.. Might have to convince some other buddies (sportbikes) to go as well...

I'm still planning on coming back down. I can't commit till almost the last min, kind of like I did last year a day before I let I decide to come down.

For anyone that doesn't know of this place the Ironhorse it's NICE!! I didn't stay there last year but will if I go down this year. VERY NICE SCENERY AND FACILITIES!!!!!!!!

For those who can work it out to come it'll be great. For those that can't we'll miss you. Just to let you know, the priority for Judy and I will be riding the back roads, the skyway, the parkway, etc. and not so much riding Deal's Gap. Been there, done that and it's fun but we enjoys riding a little less aggressively now and seeing more of the sights. That's what's great about a trip like this, we can meet for breakfast and then everyone can do their own thing or ride with whatever group trips their trolley, then do something different the next day.

Thumper and I were planning on going some time in September - so this will work out GREAT! Would love to meet you guys and do some excellent riding.

How cool!

Do you guys recommend tenting, cabins, or real hotel rooms? I called the Iron Horse - but I have a feeling they'll book up quickly!

Vemom,
Good to hear you might be able to join us. Ironhorse has plenty of tent camping space so that shouldn't be a problem if that's the route you dedide to go and they have a great bathroom and shower facility for campers. They only have three cabins but I believe each cabin has four separate bedrooms, two on each side of the cabin and two bedrooms share a bathroom. The cabins are only a year old and very nice. Hope to see ya there.

I'm in the process of nailing down reservations at Fontana Village. SO far, there'll be four of us, possibly 8. I'd like to have my bike mapped by that time.. she's running a little rich right now..

I'll have either the back-rest mod by Skungy, the Corbin DT seat (or both -thanks to Ebay!) by then, and the Cruiserlite saddlebag setup... with tank bag.. Should be able to ride all day long, as long as the little woman stays happy... She'll be happy in the 'twisties' anyway...

Dudes,
You guys need to come on down to Chattanooga on the 17th, spend the night and go on the Trail of Tears ride the 18th. There'll be over 100,000 bikers in town for the ride. Think about it.
