I did it!! I've been driving all winter and got pretty good control of the big monster.. but then ofcourse I had to overdo it. Stepped on the footbrake putting it up sideways as many times before but this time for some reason I did a nobrainer and let go a bit of the brake as i felt I was coming up a bit to much sideways.. that resulted in a beautiful highside and a broken arm..
Now I'm on sickleave from work and as the bike's at the shop I'm on the Canarie Islands for two weeks. Have to take the good with the bad.. life goes on.
Just felt I had to tell you, I recon not very many did a highside with a warrior /emoticons/emotion-1.gif
Now I'm going to enjoy another piña colada and some spanish señoritas!!

Cya!!

You say you did a highside like that's a good thing!?[:0] I have been riding for 40 years. never done a highside, never want to!! Glad you lived, hope you learned.

Never high-sided a bike, and don't plan to, but I did on my sled this past winter behind a grocery store on the concrete. I was doin a powerslide on the ice, when I hit a bare spot of concrete, and got flung off the sled, then it rolled on top of me. Thank god for helmets, cause I would have had a huge dent in my skull if not for my brand new, ruined unfortunatly, helmet. Got a concussion out of the deal, but that was all. Anyway, glad you were not hurt worse.

I've done the sled thing to. I used to (before it was studded)run down the road (snow/ice covered) by my parents to the trail at around 75 or 80, and about 100ft before the turn off onto the trail lock the brake on the sled and cut the handlebars over and do about 3 360's and end up facing perfectly to just punch it and get on the trail. Lots of fun... I think out of all the times there was twice I rolled. No harm no foul tho.. laughed, got back on and kept going. Ahh... to be young and stupid again.. LOL..

I too have high sided my Warrior, 1 month after I bought it. I was not trying to do as you have, I just hit the rear brake it started to slide and released too soon. Next thing I knew, I was on my back looking up at the sky and hearing this metal & pavement scraping noise. That was my bike! Dam! No broken bones but had a sore back for about 3 months. Bike was back in prime shape faster that I was. Sorry to hear of your mishap, hope you recover soon. It sound like you have a great start already!

everyone needs to have two bikes. a warrior... and a dirt bike for the times when you just cant take it anymore and you need to screw around in a relatively consequence free environment. then you take the dirt bike up into the ditches of the local highway and race cars in a wheely. and if i go to far, i just land in the grass and slide to a stop. as you can tell the local law enforcement just loves me

Glad to hear you're okay. I don't like having a broken Warrior, but it would be a lot worse to be laid up in the hospital. I think I could handle the Canarie Islands for a little while, though...

By the way, after all this highside talk, what's the best way to stop it from happening? Someone said taking their foot off the brake too soon caused the highside. Are you just supposed to stay on the brake?

YES

If you hit the rear brake and the bike is laid over sliding, you do NOT let off of the brake, ride it out. The instant you let off of the brake the bike will violently stand up, throw you off, and come flying after you. if you initiate a slide, stick with it. The best way to avoid the possibility of a highside is not to slide. That can't always be avoided so you have to be aware of the highside consequences. The natural reaction is to let off of the brake. That is the most dangerous thing you can do. You asked the question so I have to assume you have not gone through a safety course or did not pay attention. The safety course is good even for experienced riders. Even the old dogs can learn stuff that may save their lives!!

come close a couple of times....but never made it happen to me (you make it- it doesn't happen)..seen a few dip-squats get so close I was about to dial 911...
when in a slide, let go of the FRONT brake and stay on the rear. When that tire starts spinning again, it'll go where pointed. If you're looking at hitting a wall by doing that, fall off; do a low side..better to road rash your leather and tins than slam your noggin into the asphalt
