Downed Warrior.......not bad though

Hey guys, it's been awhile since I've been on here since I work 13 hour days and am in the process of moving. I wrecked my baby Saturday night coming out of a neighborhood. Kind of ironic isn't it? I think I must have hit some sand or something in a curve because when I went to hit the back brake (I was already on the front brakes) the tail in just swung around and the bike and I slid into a curb. I went airborne and rolling onto the sidewalk and grass. I broke a bone in my foot so I got lucky. I was only doing about 30 - 35 mph. The gas tank took the majority of the damage (doesn't it always seem that way??) and the handlebars are bent up. The foot controls are gone. Just to think I almost made it to 50k miles accident free. I guess I can join the ranks of the "experienced" class now....LOL It just saddens me when I look at the bike and see her all battered up. Oh well, it's going to the Yamaha shop tomorrow to get an estimate for insurance. Wish me luck. Be careful out there folks.

Always bad to hear a warrior is down. I would do as suggested above. Get estimate done and take the cash. Make sure that a proper evaluation is made of the frame condition, especially the neck and back end. I've seen guys take minor tumbles and end up having their bike written off due to bent frame. Good luck.

Glad to hear it was relatively minor! Almost 50k? That's got to be just about the highest of any on the forum. Any mechanical problems along the way?

Glad to hear you walked away. Any get off that you are able to walk away from is a good one, if you can think of it that way.

Sucks to hear about the damage, but as others have stated, have the check cut to you, and you can do the work.. save money for more mods.. /emoticons/emotion-1.gif

Good to hear you walked away from that one! I have a couple of things laying around if you need them. My foot controls were trashed in my "incident" too, but maybe I can help out. Let me know if you want a set of stock bars and they're yours. (I have got to get some of this crap out of my garage!)

Sorry to hear about your accident. You will heal soon enough and be back in the saddle. I too had wrecked my warrior a month after I bought it. Had the insurance guy come to my house to check it out, did the estimate at is office and sent me the check. They didn't allow much for labor to repair it. So it would be in your best interest to take the money and do it yourself. Be sure you have the check made out to you and not the dealer. You'll get raped for sure by them if you don't.

Glad to here your still in one piece..

Must be the week for curbs jumping out of the side of the road...

I kissed a curb last night[V] scraped the underside of my Heat Shield, Exhaust mounting brkt and the foot peg extensions[xx(]

I was also very lucky, I was able to keep her up and on two wheels.
Scared the S$%^ out of me though....

I've got 49,224 miles on the bike at the moment. As far as any problems along the way.........just the recall and a snapped belt at 38k miles.........and the huge appetite for rear tires. I think the bike will be an easy fix. It just sucks I will be stuck in a cast for about 6 to 8 weeks. Thanks for the replies and concerns, means a bunch.
