Are you talkin' bout that CAN located near your left foot? I've heard it's a tracking device used by the Govt. to track your whreabouts... lose it -and fast.

 

Yeah, that's it. I want rid but don't know how.

 

I took mine off and replace the shifter stay with the non California version that does not have the mount for the canister. Take the line that runs to the throttle bodies and remove it - makes sure you plug the whole on the throttle body otherwise your throttle sync is off. Then run both of the lines from the tank to somewhere in the back. Easy fix and looks so much nicer!

Nope, at least it shouldn't be considering I'm in Tennessee, but you never know. It has the little Charcoal Canister located on the throttle cable stay bracket. What is the difference between the California and other models?

 

No other state has that cannister on it but it should be located on the shift bracket though, are you describing of the tipover valve?

The Charcoal Canister is pretty big (about 5x2x3 inches) and sits on the shifter stay.

 

Hey brother I am from Chattanooga TN. and my bike does not have one.

 

I got rid of mine when I added my Legends Forward Controls (which doesn't have mount brackets for it). I took the two lines that went to the canister and spliced them together to complete the loop. Have not noticed any change in performance or reliability.

 

Hey Max_Dave, you can just plug those lines where they exit under the tank. I originally closed the loop, so to speak also, but found out they aren't necessary. Cleans up more lines.

 

On the non CA. models the two lines exiting from under the tank extend down the left front down tube and end just below the crankcase, one of these lines has a check (tipover) valve and is a vent for the tank, the other is an overflow and has no valve. One of the ports at the rear throttle body(left side on the bike) has a nipple on it, this is the port you have to block off on the CA. bikes. Now my question is, on the CA. bikes do all these (3)lines end at the cannister? I've never actually looked close enough at it to see this.

 

Ugh. I hate that cannister! It screams "UGLY" to me.

Anyone know where I can find a non-ca model replacement?

Only 2 lines go into the cannister. I just need the guts to go in and remove only enough. Don't want to screw up.
