Just got an 06, love the bike. I know this an old topic but like the rest of you, would like to change exhaust. Have heard clips of Reinharts (great sound) but nothing from Bigshots, Chambermaids,Jug Huggers etc. Anyone have any soundbites?
Thanks guys

Your exhaust should be chosen on two factors:

1) Sound: How are the sound laws where you live? Consider that the best sounding pipes are often very loud...so you need to examine if you can get away with loud pipes where you live.

2) Ground clearance: If you are a peg dragger like many of us, you will *destroy* many of the pipes that sound good. I run Samson Street sweepers and they will probably only last 2 years before I tear them completely apart (from dragging them on the pavement around corners). If you are not a peg dragger, and don't plan to slay the Dragon, this should not be a concern. If it is a concern, the SpeedStar pipe is one of the only pipes that sounds good and gets excellent ground clearance.

Welcome to the madness!!
The search function will bring up some sound bites but it's hard to tell much from them. The Rineharts give excellent power but drag in corners. The Star 2-1-2 gives slightly better low end and great overall power and you can turn right!! Search for dyno graphs and you'll find several of us have posted our dyno runs. Some other exhaust systems give good peak numbers but the graph drops off suddenly. To me, the spread of the power is most important. I have 100+ft/lbs from 1700-4300 rpm. People who drag race need top end. Of course, looks and sound, can be more imortant than peak power. So many choices....enjoy!!!

Hi there bnpain, welcome to the Forums and the pleasures that are the Warrior. Plenty of pipes to choose from, take your time though, there's no rush, I'm on my 4th set now in 3 years! Try to hook up with some members who live close to you and see/listen to their pipes.

Thanks guys for the info. I don't redline but I do like performance being a V-Max owner. I am sorry to hear reinharts grag in rights but the reinhart link you guys posted sounds so sweet. I really don't care for the look of the 2-1 propipe but I guess figures don't lie. Still from what I heard is stay away from Samsons and Cobras. I met a guy at Revere Beach (Ma.) the other day with an 02 Warrior and a Bub but he couldn't remember which he had. Do Chambermaids or Stubbies drag and do they sound as good as the Reinharts? still like the 2-2 look.

bnpain, you should definitely take your time. If it's sound you are after, 2-2 pipes are your best bet. The BigShots look like 2-2 pipes but are actually 2-1-2, so it gives performance as well as good looks. If you are looking for sound, then go with 2-2. performance, go 2-1. The BigShots are a combination of the two. Then there are the Reinharts... 2-2 with performance as well.

Kinda wish I had gotten the Speedstar for more power, but I love my Longshots because I think they look nice and the sound is really awesome. They are loud but not too loud, IMO.

I guess it really depends on each person's personal preferences. You'll probably learn what you prefer, like most of us, through trial and error.

I just installed the Vance & Hines Bigshots and they sound killer ,but they are pretty loud[/emoticons/emotion-4.gif]I chose them because of the 2-1-2 ,from what I understand, helps the performance. As far as draging it seems the only ones that won't are; V&H Pro-Pipe,Star Speed-Pipe,a couple of slip-ons and the Water Heater. And the way cruise-missle,cb11,jdpark etc... ride the dragon I'm not so sure they coud'nt drag those.

Welcome to the forum. I ran the Propipe for about 3 years. It is the king of performance and doesn't sound to bad when you crack open the throttle. It sounds great without the baffle, but you will lose the low end grunt that you got the Propipe for. On my lowered bike I dragged the **** out of my propipe, but I tend to use all my lean angle no matter what pipe.

My next set was the Samsons Short Slashers. I had the PP for so long I just wanted to try something different. I really like the look and it opens up the rear tire and shows off the chrome wheel a lot better. I did lose a bunch of torque and ground clearance though. After just one summer (and one trip to the Dragon), I have worn through my tips and have worked through quite a bit of my header too. But they do look and sound bad ass, so I'm not really disappointed.

bnpain,

I have to agreed with sangathor...I have the Samson Short Slashers and they look good, as well as sound good. They are loud without the baffles...

But it's really personal preference and what you are looking to achieve with performance and looks.
