Did you remove both drain plugs?

 

Yes I removed both drain plugs. Followed the owners manual,
then did a search and found out owners manual stated the wrong bolt as drain plug. Should have done a search first, i appologise.

 

Before I do anything on my bike I always search for it here first. Saves lots of time. Glad you found the right bolt. Don't be to upset, there are alot of posts on this site about changing oil the hard way.

 

yeah, I stripped out my oil pan hole because of the manual. I had to retap and thread my oil pan with a larger bolt. what a *****.

 

Did my 600 mile oil change last night using the instruction found here and I got the oil out just fine. Had to use a screwdriver to get the blinking oil filter off, but hey, I've done that on many cars before.

When filling with Mobil 1 V-Twin I followed the instructions, putting in 2.6 qts, running and then putting the rest of the oil in. Problem I ran into was after putting in the 4.3 qts called for in the owners manual. That didn't even get to the tip of the dip stick I put in 5 full qts and still just got to the tip of the dip stick. When I added another 1/2 qt the oil level went to over full so now I guess I get to drain and try again, being way careful on amount put in as it goes from not registering on the the dip stick to over full very quickly.

 

Cumfortablynumb Just take a turkey baster and remove oil from the dipstick hole till you get to the right level.
