Hi Wip - Fork installation is one of the easiest "do it yourself" projects on a motorcycle. The only special tool you will need is a motorcycle jack. If you don't have one, you can get a decent one at sears for $100. Otherwise, just take your time and make sure everything is tight when you are done.

Get the manual if not for this project then for any other that may be in the near future, besides it has the torque specs for the stuff you'll be removing.

 

Not sure why you are replacing forks but you might want to consider putting some R1 forks in (search the forums if you like the idea) or getting the standard forks professionally setup with some better springs/oil etc.

 

Warrior forks are a joke internally. If you want more go instead of show, start with replacement R1 forks and start spending $$$ from there. Even Racetech or Traxxion can't do much with the Warrior forks.

 

thanks guys, but my forks are damaged and iwill be replacing them with some more stock forks just to get the bike up and running. by the way, how much are the r-1 forks? i hear a lot of good things about them but i don't know much about them. just take a look at my pic and you will be able to see what i mean.
glanced at the manual, i sure do need to get one and a jack.
they are next on my list.

 

replacing forks are a piece of cake, nothing to it. Rebuilding forks isn't a big deal either, I'm sure you could do both easy enough

While we are on the subject of forks, COULD a half way intelegent individual with moderate mechanical ability swap out tree's, I am waiting on 6 degree trees and would like to know if I could do it or have it done at recall, Thanks.
