is fork installation a very intricate/technical process? or pretty obvious? should i get a qualified technician to do this? are there some small key steps i should do when doing this that if i don't know them, i could pay for it with my life later as i'm riding?
looks to me, just take them off, remembering or writing down what goes where, and replacing with new ones carefully the same way in reverse. could there be a setting or trick i might need to know?
how much would a technician/yamaha dealer charge for this process?
i don't have a manual either. maybe i should get one.
please help?[?]

wip,
Get the manual if not for this project then for any other that may be in the near future, besides it has the torque specs for the stuff you'll be removing.

thanks guys, but my forks are damaged and iwill be replacing them with some more stock forks just to get the bike up and running. by the way, how much are the r-1 forks? i hear a lot of good things about them but i don't know much about them. just take a look at my pic and you will be able to see what i mean.
glanced at the manual, i sure do need to get one and a jack.
they are next on my list.

While we are on the subject of forks, COULD a half way intelegent individual with moderate mechanical ability swap out tree's, I am waiting on 6 degree trees and would like to know if I could do it or have it done at recall, Thanks.
