If you want to save some dollars this is what I do.
Go to the hardware and pick up a 1/2" dia. bolt 2" long and one nut.
The head of the bolt were your wrench would go measures 3/4" and fits in the axle perfect. Run the nut up on the bolt and weld it so you can still get a socket on it. Insert the bolthead into the axle and use a 3/4" socket on the nut to loosen or tigthen the axle. this let you use a tourque whench to properly tigten. This works great and thanks to billh who gave me this tip about a year ago. Hope this helps you out.
I have a drawer in my tool chest with all the home made tools I have made. I hate to buy something when I can make one cheaper and in most cases better.
Easer yet, I took a spark plug socket the type with the 3/4" spot for a wrench at the end, put an extention in the wrong way and used the 3/4" in the hole. Worked well.
Yea, this was another case of no matter how may tools I have I never have the one I need, or can find it. It was a Sunday night(tool store closed) and I had to get the wheel off so just goes to prove necessity is the mother of invention /emoticons/emotion-5.gif
geek you really should put this in the tips & tricks section
