Fuel leak

Has any one had the fuel pipe joint (1745181-001) or quick disconnect on the left side of the bike fail and start leaking gas?
My 02 did and it split at seam where the plastic was molded together.

Re: Fuel leak

Yes, it's apparantly a 'common' issue on our 02s. My garage reaks of gas this morning so I think we're in the same boat:{ There's a great thread which will hopefully turn up with a search. I see this is your first post so I did a little searching for you and found Arizona Warrior's post on this...

As long as the dry breaks are 'snapped' together OK (worth a quick check if you recently had them apart), the problemwith the dry breaks onour 02s is that they crack along the mold join. Future years do not have this problem as the molding was changed. If you need to replace it, go with a recent year one and just go with the female half. $32 I think at your local friendly Dealer:} See you there:}

Re: Fuel leak

Thanks for the input.

The strange thing is, out of the system the crack disapears and this tells me that the gas is some how swelling the plastic.
