See - this is what I meant when I said"aaaand.." You slowly give us more information that changes the whole picture. If it started starting harder unplug the fuel pak and see what happens. If that solves the problem, then obviously there is something wrong with it, or it is set improperly. My cobra has a setting for idle. If yours is similar, then you have the idle set way too rich.
From you're Youtube video... it's the LCV stuck closed.
Every time the engine and the little brass temp sensor cool off enough, the LCV is re-activated... even on hot days.
From what it sounds like, and you reporting that is smells really badly of gas when it does start.. it's really rich because the LCV is not opening and allowing in the extra air it would normally, to allow the higher idle when cold. You can remove it, clean it, and re-install it. Or you can just remove it all together and use your hand to hold the throttle open for cold starts like I do now that I've deleted my LCV.
It's a bit of a pain on cold days.. but it works just fine!
Don't forget to cap off the vacuum lines from the throttle bodies that would be fed by the LCV.... DO NOT tie them together.. they need to stay separate!!!! (I found out the hard way!! lol)
A couple of us had this discussion a couple of weeks ago. I WANT YOU TO TRY THIS, once you get your bike started try squirting some spray brake cleaner or WD-40 around the intake manifolds or anyplace else you added or removed air cleaner stuff. If the idle jumps up you've got a leak.
I've been chasing this gremlin all winter and I don't know what to do. The last thing I want to do is drop it off at a dealer and have them come back with a "don't know what's wrong, here's your $1k bill," but I will if that is what it comes to.
So far, the following has been replaced:
Installed the hefty pulley and rode around for two hours this morning and started hearing a loud whine sound on the freeway.
I took my time with the install so the only thing I can think if is the nylon rollers.
Heading home slowly since the belt looked like this. My mistake...... some...
Guys, I inherited a 02 Warrior from my father in law that passed. He literally never rode it, and it stayed in his garage all the time. So much so, that all 4 of the turn signals have dry rotted and are all hanging by the wires. I’m not new to motorcycles as I’ve had several years ago, but I am...
I have an 03, I think I bent a fork on it, I'm looking for replacements but I need some help, if i get 06 and up forks will they work for my wheel, will I need to change more than just the calipers for the radial brakes? Is it worth the upgrade? I would like better front brakes.
