Harley walks away from Warrior twice in a row from 40-45 mph roll-on

Went riding today with my wife and two Warrior riders from this forum, a husband and wife team. Found ourselves on the highway and the husband decided it was time to put my Harley in its place so he started gassing it some when we were both doing around 40-45 mph to show me he wanted to "go." We both nailed it and (I'm sure) to his surprise, I walked away from him until my speedometer hit 120mph and my bike was still pulling. He shut it down and gave up on trying to keep up. After I slowed down and he caught back up he kindly shot me the bird out of appreciation.
Image
A few miles later down the road he decided something must have gone wrong and that this time he'd REALLY show me... But the same story repeated itself only this time I only hit about 100 mph before he'd given up. True story and I'll let the Warrior rider tell his side of it once he sees this post. Both his bike and mine have aftermarket pipes and VBAK with PCIII and no other performance mods to either bike. Might be a little hard for some of y'all to swallow, but it happened today. Twice.

To clear a couple of things up: The other guy and I discussed what happened (a lot...hahaha!) afterwards. We both started in 3rd gear and I never got out of 5th gear. We also discussed what we both thought would happen in a race from a standstill and we both agreed he would leave me at the start, but that I would catch him. It didn't get etched in stone anywhere but we pretty much agreed that he would beat me in an 1/8 mile drag and that I'd beat him in a 1/4 drag. I appreciate the candid feedback, by the way. Not too many motorcycle forums of BRAND X that you can visit and tell them your BRAND Y motorcycle walked away from theirs twice and not get flamed in a major way. Not that I've done that before...

Oh, and one other thing. I never bought the bike I haveintending for it to be faster or to handle the twisties better than a Warrior. I have a lot of respect for the capabilities of Warrior bikes. Like some of you guys are still doing, though, I was underestimating the capabilities of a Harley. They're easy to make jokes, about, sure. But they're not a joke.

After sitting and waiting until every one Including Dwight the state loving **** has had some thing to say by the way when was the last timeNC State wonAnyNational Championship at any thing..... UNC RULES

Lets get the story rightwith the first run. The accused warrior rider was asked at 50 miles per hour how fast he was going. Or so he thought. When theHarley riderstarted holding up his hand and flashing 5 fingers at Warrior rider. He nodded and matched tires and Nodded. With a twist of the Throttle the Harley was some where way back and gave up.The next chance the harley had to redeam himself the 2 lined them up at about 40 miles per hour and in the same gear and dropped the hammer and ran wide open the harley did pull away as he shifted in to 5th. It apears that there is a huge difference in gear ratio between the Harley and the Warrior. as agreed above from a 5 mile an hr roll in first the Harley will never catch up until the warrior runs out of revs in 4th gear. The warrior is and allways be much faster than the Street Bob from the line. I am attching a picture of the harley after the race and you tell me which bike you would want to ride. Nothing like being first back to the shop for an oil top off

I had a funny feeling that your memory would fog up before you could accurately recount the story of what happened.
Image
What you're calling the first run I didn't count. You see, I was riding right beside you. And my speedometer works. If you consider both of those things then it becomes obvious that I already knew how fast you were going. When I held up my hand with 5 fingers outstretched to you, I was asking if you were in 5th gear like I was. I wasn't assuming you would multiply my 5 fingers by 10 to come up with 50 and think I was asking you how fast we were both riding. HAHAHA! You nodded yes to my "are you in 5th gear" gesture and then you nailed the throttle. You were in 3rd gear (or so you told me afterwards) and yes, you left me for dead because I was in 5th. I was curious to see how both bikes would do taking off in the same gear. Sure, I could have downshifted but as far as I knew you were in 5th gear already like I was. What you are calling the second run is what I'm calling the first run because it was the first one where we both started out equally. As you described, I pulled away from you but I did it way before I hit 5th gear. I remember you clearly saying multiple times afterwards that I sure do have a long 3rd gear on my bike because my bike kept pulling ahead of you in 3rd gear after you'd shifted to 4th when your motor ran out of steam. The second run you seem to have forgotten. That was after you'd caught up to me and flipped me off and got that "what the **** just happened?" look on your face. I happily obliged by showing you what happened a second time. I have no reason to lie and I'm more than willing to show you a third time with more witnesses exactly what happened. I agreed that from a standstill I think (if you can launch your bike well, and I actually don't know that you can because I haven't seen you try to yet) that you would initially pull away. But don't twist the story of what actually happened. If you want to get out on the road beside me doing about 40-45 mph with us both in 3rd gear and a few witnesses around then I'm all for a repeat performance. I'm planning on being at the return to the dragon trip so maybe we could do it there if not before. So to summarize we both agree that the time we both started out equally, I won. Period. You just seem to have forgotten me winning the second time.

the response was for you, as I'm sure you realised after reading the content. and what might i ask is the true colors comment referring too?. you must be aware that this is a Warrior forum, and having once rode one I'm sure you have some valuable info to impart on the membership here, but it seems from the majority of your recent posts that you are more concerned with trying to validate your HD purchase and less concerned about Warrior issues. It might be time to concentrate your rhetoric on a HD forum that is more in line with your current thinking.

Hey, before you put your foot in your mouth anymore.... Just cool down a second. I *just* spoke to Jim on the phone and he told me he will update this thread with something close to the WHOLE TRUTH. I don't think he meant any harm by basically calling me a LIAR on here, but that's how I took it. Now let's see if he'll man up and admit exactly what happened. And then I'll do the right thing and accept your apology afterwards.

Wow, this story is sure convoluted and hard to follow.
Here are the numbers of a current stock geared and back tire 96" Harley Twin Cam Dyna bike.
The reference to 5500 RPM is the stock ECU limiter point, which Shags bike is equipped with for now.
Just for grins on my modded engine, the Race ECU limiter is set to 6200 RPM and with the Cams installed and the ported heads and etc. stuff, the beast just keeps pulling harder and harder until almost 6200 RPM, with the max power being about 67% higher than stock ....wicked.

5500 RPM on a stock geared Dyna Fat Bob. Speed verified by GPS multiple runs.

1st gear @ 5500 RPM = 44 mph
2nd gear @ 5500 RPM = 63 mph
3rd gear @ 5500 RPM = 84 mph
4th gear @ 5500 RPM = 103 mph
5th gear @ 5500 RPM = 128 mph

didn't do a 6th gear speed run, but the gearing is such that
6th gear @ 5500 RPM would = 146 MPH. Mine is not capable of getting to 146 as it is drag limited way less than that

Here are the actual gear ratios for the above Harley engine.....
Gear Ratios (Overall):
First: 9.312 ... 10.110
Second: 6.421 ... 6.958
Third: 4.774 ... 4.953
Fourth: 3.926 ... 3.862
Fifth: 3.279 ... 3.150
Sixth: 2.790 ... None

Yeah, except this thread is in the GENERAL FORUMS> GENERAL BIKE TALK. That translates to bikes other than the Warrior. What fun would this forum be without some spirited back and forth? Anyhow, especially when bantering about bikes that are superior to the Warrior....well, except for the brakes and lean angle capability...

All Belony/BS aside after 2 solid runs starting at 40mph in the same gear the harley is faster than the warrior Shag is not full of it and I am a good rider. I just draged the bike on the 8th of a mile and with walking it out of the hole my best time was 8.2 in the 8th so its no the rider. Now to call shaggy out on the carpet in the next month U I and some one with a camara at Dunn Benson Drag way and we can put all of this to rest.

INJERKTER

Shag is a killer rider and has mucho respect for the warrior and the people on the forum. He hangs out with us Triangle Riders because this is a great group of guys and rode the same bike as you a midnight so when it boils down to it. Its about riding. Riding well and Riding safe. This is a guy who when I picked up my Wifes new warrior offered me a great set of pipes for it for a redicullas cheap amout of money 50 bucks and some beer. He has a nice bike and it is fast...Dont get me wrong I love my Warrior for GODS sake I have 2 of them. So we the Squids will not allow a brother squid to be hammerd on. See ya at the return to the DRAGON and see how ya hang with The Squids.

Well I personally have nothing against HD'S, been thinking of getting one my self at some point. I am also aware of the spirited good natured banter of this thread, not really sure how Shag thinks i was able to stick my foot in my mouth, that's not usually where i would place it in a situation like this. apology accepted thx.

Here's where I think you stuck your foot in your mouth. When you said:

thx for the laugh

When someone calls what I say a "fantasy story" and "BS" that means BULLSHIT to me and that means that person is calling me a liar. You weren't there so you had no idea of what happened. And now it turns out that I was NOT lying. So again I say I will do the right thing and accept your apology once/if it happens. And that's what I meant by the "true colors" comment. As soon as I saw your rude response I figured "Here, it comes... now we'll see how people really feel." Their true colors. Now excuse me while I go puff out my leather vest. BWAHAHAHAHA! Ride, or talk sh!t about riding all **** day long. It's up to every one of us.

After I droped my mess that faithfull day trying to catch that **** fat *** you were on youThe next daycame back and followed me up and could have passed me at any time if you could have gotten around the trail of sparks comming from my frame. I have seen some one ride a HD BOB and its a no Joke bike I think HD did a good one. This one the horse power to noise ratio is in compliance with the Warrior. It is a shame with 100 years of building bikes it took Harley this long to catch up. Now the VMAX that is a whole different Beast and I wish all the harleys out there the best of luck because you will never catch that yamaha. Steve ya need the Vmax you and Randy would be the fastest on that little road they call the dragon.
