Harley walks away from Warrior twice in a row from 40-45 mph roll-on

Went riding today with my wife and two Warrior riders from this forum, a husband and wife team. Found ourselves on the highway and the husband decided it was time to put my Harley in its place so he started gassing it some when we were both doing around 40-45 mph to show me he wanted to "go." We both nailed it and (I'm sure) to his surprise, I walked away from him until my speedometer hit 120mph and my bike was still pulling. He shut it down and gave up on trying to keep up. After I slowed down and he caught back up he kindly shot me the bird out of appreciation.
Image
A few miles later down the road he decided something must have gone wrong and that this time he'd REALLY show me... But the same story repeated itself only this time I only hit about 100 mph before he'd given up. True story and I'll let the Warrior rider tell his side of it once he sees this post. Both his bike and mine have aftermarket pipes and VBAK with PCIII and no other performance mods to either bike. Might be a little hard for some of y'all to swallow, but it happened today. Twice.

WOW , you Harley guys are making friends fast...............I'm starting to think there is nothing u two cant do. Bless Harley for which it stands.........one nation.........

Wait... let me make sure I have it straight... It's ok for someone to laugh and joke about some hp numbers that are mentioned while they are confused and just don't understand the simple math behind what was said, but it' s not ok for someone else to laugh at them about that. Do I have it right now? Thanks for clearing that up for me!

I just noticed in your sig line that you are a HD technician. Certainly you have the same access to the Harley SE Pro catalog that anybody has on the net.
Probably at the crank my modded engine is putting out around 117HP. There are plenty of modded 95", that is ninetyfive inch HD motors that are putting out more than 115RWHP.

Shouldn't be too great a jump to get a 103" engine there.

You misspelled "accept." C'mon, Inkjetter. Lighten up. Don't let it twist you up inside so much that I smoked a Warrior with my Harley a couple of times. Life goes on. Someone on a Vespa will smoke me tomorrow. (well... not really, but you hopefully get my point.) A guy on a Road King gave me a run for my money yesterday and he looked like he was AT LEAST 250 pounds. After we ran we introduced ourselves and laughed about the whole thing. When MarineWarrior and I eventually race at the dragstrip you may want to not read that thread just in case I smoke his ass. I'm not sure that you could stand it if I did.

This is some funny sh*t here.  Used to be that "I" was the one stirring up the trouble when it came to HD's and Shag and Centerline would be the ones busting my chops.......Times, they are a changin it seems

I would bust chops about how pitiful the brakes were on all the Harleys I had rented over a few years...... all of them with single discs up front, leading me to believe that all air cooled Hardleys had but one disc up front. I readily conceded they had superior comfort and style. Then I discovered the Dyna Fat Bob., the rest is history..

I'd just make fun of them because at the time they seemed overpriced to me for what they were. Then I noticed (after I actually looked) that some of them (even the ones with the "big twin" engines were not so expensive after all). The Harley riders I encountered and still do encounter had bought the bike for the style/comfort/look/sound/image/etc. I've always been a little more into actually riding the bike. So I wasn't impressed with the "typical Harley rider" I'd met. I won't make excuses. That's the truth and it still is. Oh, and the brakes still suck-diddly-uck. HAHAHAHA!

Oil dripping, hey that reminds me of both of my Warriors. Neither of them had the infamous "Crank Vent" and I don't believe any stock Warriors have the vent. Anyhow, any time I would take either of the bikes for a long distance highway ride (laugh, cuz on a Warrior. long distance is maybe 100 miles) the aft cylinder heads would be soaked with oil, fun to clean the mess.

1600 miles in 4 days and no leak on my Warrior. You must have had a bad set up. (Laugh, cuz you call 100 miles on a Warrior a long distance)Ooops, just pushed another button!

And why did you buy a Harley? I have heard many times about how the Harley sounds to you and you wanting it to sound "like a Harley"? You have also mentioned comfort a time or 2.

Sounds like you're a "typical Harley rider" now huh? Amazing how easily you can justify your reasons for buying the bike but if anyone else buys it for those reason, they are somehow less of a rider than you. Well, I guess impromptu street races solidify your "real rider" credentials as opposed to any posers that just ride for their own reasons.

I think you're misinterpreting my answer. Yes, I bought the bike mainly for the look and style and because I thought it would be a comfortable ride, especially compared to the gsxr I was riding at the time. After I bought it I found (like I said in another post on this forum) that I'd been underestimating the capabilities of Harleys because the bike actually handled pretty well and had considerably more power than I thought it would. The power/handling were just bonuses.

If it makes you feel better to call me a typical Harley rider then ok. I made a VERY similar statement in a post over on the Harley forum about how the guy I ran into the other day was the first Harley rider I'd encountered and none of those guys seemed to take offense by that statement. I feel like you're trying to start an argument with me for some reason but I'm not sure why and frankly I'm just not in the mood right now so you'll have to look somewhere else for an argument or at least let me catch up on my sleep first.

Uh... yeah, ok. I glad we agree on something. You win. You're the expert. You ride great and I'm a typical Harley rider, you would smoke me in any kind of race riding any kind of bike and are so much smarter than me, and I'm so stupid, etc, etc, blah blah blah.

Not trying to start anything with you. I simply find it funny that you still use the term "typical Harley rider" when describing the reason some people bought their motorcycle but take offense if someone calls you a "typical Harley rider" when you bought the bike for the EXACT same reasons. I know a lot of guys that ride 40-50K miles a year and could care less about the performance capabilities........doesn't make them any less of a rider is all I am saying.

*sigh* Yeah, I bought it for those reasons (style/sound/comfort) but never intended to ride it like what I call a "typical Harley rider." In my own personal encounters with people who ride Harleys, I see... Well, like someone joked with me the other day: "How can you tell a curve in the road is coming up if you're behind a group of Harleys?" I knew the answer and gave it: "All of their brake lights come on." I can't help having an opinion in my mind of what a "typical Harley rider" is and I'm sure you know what I mean when I use that phrase/term. And I'm certain I'm not the only one who has the same opinion or a very similar one. Not everyone who rides a Harley fits into that mold, just like the guy I encountered the other day. Have I explained this to death enough yet? Come to think of it, why am I bothering to explain myself? Is anyone even reading this crap anymore?

edit: By the way, I thought you were supposed to be one of my "instant friends" I got when I bought the bike. What happened there?!?!?

Sounds like you may have a bad setup or just refuse to ride at high rpms (thanks to a very short 5th gear). On the way to the coast with my wife, oil was all over the engine on our warrior, might be the V-BAK kit.

Just take it like a man, there are better bikes than a warrior. Including HDs..I do not suffer from SDS.. Who cares if it was, or can be,smoked by a American bike. Life goes on.

Besides, Travis(shag) and Steve(centerline) are better riders than about 99.9% of most members here.

I surely don't think I am a better rider than that many members here, maybe a little better than average, certainly nowhere near the capabilities of CruiseMissile.
Anywho 07Midnite, I mentioned 100 miles as long distance on the Warrior, 'cause if you cruise the freeway at about 75-80mph on a Warrior, you are gonna be lookin' for fuel in about 100 miles. With 5 gallons (5.1) on my Hardley, I don't begin looking for fuel when cruising on the freeway until after 225 miles. And at that point i am not ready to get off the bike for a break. On the Warrior, (stock seat) I was MORE than ready to get off at the 100 mile point. I rode my Hardley to California from Dallas at the beginning of the year. Rode the first day for 16 hours and just got off the bike ONCE for a pee and eat break. At fuel stops, I just pulled up to a pump, filled her and off I went. Didn't even get off the bike. Rode via I-20 and I-10 to just past Phoenix then north to Needles, about 1250 miles. Was certainly tired, but I don't think I could have done it in the same time on my Warrior.....I would have been exhausted and have had to stop too many times for fuel. I rode a Warrior round trip Dallas-Houston once, only about 5 or 6 hundred miles and was really EXHAUSTED.

The oil on the aft cylinder head on both Warriors experienced on both Warriors may have been related to the SpeedStar Hi-compression pistons and PR BAK, I don't know, but any long distance (1 full tank) ride an the superslab made a mess of the aft cylinder and the cover just aft on the left side of the bikes.

I have HC pistons, VBAK but no krank vent. I have never had oil on the engine, none. ???? BTW, my longest day on the Warrior was 500 miles and that was 4 separate trips combined. 50 miles from home I had to stop to give my butt a break. I had to do the same with 25 miles to go. I don't think you could have paid me to do a repeat the next day. The Warrior is not a long distance bike for this oldman.
