About 4 weeks ago I posted a topic regarding a problem I was having with my bike missing when I tried to go over 3K RPM.
Since then the bike has been in the shop for the recall and HC Pistons, I informed the dealer at the time of the problem, he suggested it could be a air temp or oil sensor playing up or a loose earth or something like that and will check it out. Well the recall was done without a hitch but the problem is still there and Yamaha and the dealer have no idea wots causing it,....
here are the symptons again.
When you first ride the bike it is OK through all the gears, you can red line it without any problems, but after about 5-10 minutes of riding (when it warms up) it starts to get a miss at 3k but will still pull over that with no more problems. Then a few minutes later it just won't go over 3k without the engine missing and no way will it pull above 3k.
We have since discovered that the ignition is actually shutting down and there is no way it will pull above 3k.(this happens exactly at 3k)
Under 3k you would't know there is anything wrong it pulls great but just won't go beyond 3k. We have removed the PCIII to see if that was it but it still did it, the dealer has check all the sensor, coil, ignition system and it seems ok. Could the ECU cause this and if so is there any way of checking it through the diagnostics
We have notice that when you hold the 2 buttons down for the 8 secs the first code that displays is 17 but there is no reference to code 17 that we can find.
Does anyone out there have the repair CD so they could cut and paste info on how to check the ECU and how the dianostics work, if so could they e.mail this to me to..... opie@bigpond.net.au....
we are stumpt with this one, we have thought of all the obvious things like the stand switch but as I have indicated it is exactly at the same time of running and exactly at 3k...when the bike cools down its fine again until it warms up again
Any Ideas....
