How do you know?

I'll start off by saying that I am new to this site and I like what I see on here. Not to long ago my dad and I bought an 02 Road Warrior from Montgomeryville Motorcycle shop. We bought it fully customized from black ghost flame paint all the way to full motor work. They told us that this bike has, I think, the stage IV kit or something like that. On the dyno they said it made 102hp. The bike has the air scoops on the side, exhuast and everything. It is very fast and a blast to ride. My question is how do you know if you have the stage kit on your bike? We didn't receive the papers yet so I was just wondering if there was any way to tell? Thanks for your help.

Zach, congrats on purchasing a great bike - especially if Stage IV is installed, something many of us have been waiting on for quite a while. If you can provide pics of the right side of the bike, and take a close look at the bike's invoice (purchase price should include about $3K-$4K in performance upgrades), I think between the two you can tell if the bike has a Stage IV kit installed. The right side will have an intake scoop in place of the outside filter housing, as well as the non-stock 2 into 1 or 2 into 2 pipes that look like these...

Easiest way to tell is the rev limiter. Stock will kick in around 5100 RPM, Speed Star ECU will REV about 5600 RPM before the limiter kicks in.

You can also look under the tank to see if it has the aluminum velocity stacks on the injectors.

Here's a link to the Warrior page on ebay, there's a set of the Speed Star exhaust for sale now, see if yours is the same.

Thanks for your help guys. My bike does have 2 seperate pipes for each cylinder and has two chromed air scoopes on either side of the bike. The bikes price was around 17,000, which also included a paint job they said costed a $1000. I never really look to much at the tach because I don't want to hit something under acceleration. I'm going to assume until I check the papers again that it has the kit installed. I will try to get some pics of it. Thanks again for the replys.

Zach, at that price you better have the kit installed [/emoticons/emotion-1.gif]. It sounds like you do with the scoops and pipes. But the dyno will tell the tale, 102 Hp sounds about right with the kit installed. Ok, now that all the formalities are out of the way, when do we get to see some pics?

1)Post from where you are.
2)Ask for Warrior riders of that area to meet them in your place or at a police station.
3)Take a ride on one other than yours and compare.
4)Give a ride to the fellow rider and exchange opinions.

To meatball this was not an impulse buy. It was between this and a FZ1 which I was pushing more for. I had a 99 R6 before and I wanted all the speed I could get. Hardest part about the switch was finding the footpegs. Now I'm more than happy with the Warrior, it's great. I gave it the rev limiter check last night easily blowing by 5100 rpm and stopping somewhere around 5700 rpm. So I think the kit is a sure thing. Last check will be the papers. I will get pics soon since I have some free time now.
