MY BUDDY WAS POKIN' AT MY WARRIOR AND WE GOT INTO AN ARGUMENT ABOUT HOUW MUCH POWER IT WAS PUTTING OUT (he rides a 97 wide glide) I'VE GOT SAMSON RIP-SAWS/BAK & PCIII...WITH A MAP THEY SENT ME WHEN I BOUGHT IT. I WAS THINKING 'BOUT 85HP 103FTLB TORQUE. THOUGHT I WOULD PUT IT UP TO THE EXPERTS AND SEE WHAT YA'LL HAD TO SAY.

These bikes vary so much in stock form, even people with the same mods end up with different hp & tq #'s. I've heard of anywere from 73 to 80 hp and 96 to 103 tq on stock bikes. Luck of the draw I guess. Only way to find out for sure is have it dynoed.
I dynoed mine W/speedstar air scoop,ECU adjusted and stock bazooka pipe and got 80 hp & 103 tq. so I'm looking for something close to 90 hp. & 110 tq. if I ever get my back ordered speedstar pipe so I can move on and do my air kit and fuel maping.
Spend a couple bucks and get a dyno, you know you want to!

Your bike is probably around 85HP and 100lbs torque. I run a TFI instead of a PCIII, a set of jughuggers, some Orient Express HC pistons, and thats it. Oh, and I have the 5th gear swapped out. My bike dials in at 90HP and 110lbs torque on the dyno. I run 1/4 miles in 12.5 seconds. Before the HC pistons I was running about the numbers I quoted you. Your buddy sounds like the typical harley puke. They all think their bike can whip anything out there but refuse to do any research on how their hogs actually perform. You should be able to bury his arse in only 3 gears AND riding 2 up!! That ought to shut him up!!

Accourding to our conservative dyno the stock Warrior puts out around 73 hp and 97 tq.

let me know if im wrong but arent these all chassis dynos? meaning what the engine actually produces would be more? doesnt the transmission, xfer case, rear wheel and such absorb 10-15% of the power?

granted i know that power to the wheel is all that matters in acceleration, but when comparing hp to other bikes, you either have to compare other bikes dyno #s, or what the warrior puts out at the crank vs manufacturers #'s.

example: the warrior on the dyno puts down 73hp, and 97tq. honda says their 1800vtx has 106hp and 120 tq....

that would put the warrior at a huge disadvantage....

now, if you multiply the vtx #s by .85 (as 85% gets to the wheels) that means that what gets to the wheel would only be about 90-92 hp and 102-105tq

or much more on line to what the warrior produces.... still more powerful, but not the 30+hp and 30tq it would at first seem.

remember hp and torque from the dyno are after drivetrain losses.

if you were to take the warrior #'s at the crank it would come out to be 85ish hp at the crank, and about 115ish tq.

for reference in the may 05 issue of motor cyclist, the hayabusa on the dyno only put down 156.1 hp and 99.0 tq... or well below what it advertises at the crank

in the same issue of motor cyclist shows a 2000 screaming eagle road glide puts down 70.8 hp, and 86.4 tq

and an 02 warrior at 76.3 hp, and 97.9 tq

so we should easily win that one especially since the warrior is 15lbs lighter

but it also shows a 02 hd vrod put down 109.3 hp and 74.3 tq..... /emoticons/emotion-6.gif
