i like the cable clutch better , i had two bikes (86 nighthawk cb700sc) before the warrior and couldn't stand the hydrolic clutch .you have to adjust the cable but you also get more "feel" miss the old hondas they were fun lil bikes.
I can never remember the company that makes those completely internal cable/wired bars (someone has one around here) but I'm thinking it had a hyd clutch as well and the resivior is inside the bars. Even on cars I'd rather have a cable clutch- hyd clutches get rid of the "feeling" with the clutch that allows you to know more of what's happening with the clutch. Many times hyd clutches seem to go out without much warning unlike the cable clutch that you'll notice more slippage before they go.
Cable clutch all the way. It's simpler, easier to do work on, keeps unneeded fluid off the bike, often reduces weight, and maintains great clutch feeling in your hand.
Guess you guys never had a cable break on you...
Just posting the info along, I know some mebers have expressed interest now they have a way to do that. I like the cable fine enough too.
What hard pull? I've had my Warrior for three years and driving trucks for ten. My left forearm looks like Popeye and my left leg looks like a beer keg!
id rather replace an external clutch cable & i did have one break on my 68 bsa thunderbolt...40yrs ago. had a hydrolic clutch on my ducati monster. it seems the more parts you have, the more that can go wrong but a hydrolic clutch can support stronger clutch springs
I'm with the majority here. A hydro clutch would just mean more headaches in the long run. Keep it clean and simple.
I do agree...the Warrior clutch does seem to pull harder than most other bikes. Even went through a bout of tendonitis when I first started riding my Warrior. However, my arm is used to it now...no problems.
To be quite honest I read over the following replies to my wish for a hyd clutch on my warrior. I enjoyed the post about not having a weekly how to adjust the clutch topic. But fact of the matter is I am very satisfied with the cable. I was looking at cable breakage when I posted that. But I enjoyed the humerous remarks that followed. Keep em up, that is part of what makes this forum a daily routine for me. /emoticons/emotion-1.gif
Ive had a cable break on me, sitting at a red light. Just started it in gear when it turned green and went straight home to replace it. This was on my 1982 Yammie XJ1100
It pulled a little easier than our clutch but not much of a difference. The master cylinders were very sleek on them, almost like bigger versions of PM's master cylinders. There are some nice features to these bikes, just as a whole not my style of bike.
What if you take the cable out and use the linkage from the shifter to operate your clutch?
How would one shift then?[/emoticons/emotion-4.gif]
