O.K. I actually searched a little before I posted this and although I still don't feel very good...I feel a little better knowing it has happenned to others on accident and it's not just my blatent carelessness.

I'll start off by driving home the point that it's a brand new '07 with 400 miles.

Last night I pulled her out of the garage for a warm up before a bike night....walked back into the garage after a bit to grab my gloves and helmet.....you guessed it....

THUMP!!! BIKES ON ITS SIDE!!!

I turned around and couldn't believe what just happened. I just sat there on the edge of crying or pummeling anybody who was around me.

Why did this happen???? I went throught all the possible scenarios in my depressed brain. All I can honestly come up with is that **** kickstand wasn't fully engaged forward. I can tell you, as everyone else has, this was a ritual I check everytime and I'm not a newbie....

AAAHHHH!!!!!

My first bike (for years) was an '81 XJ650. Drove that thing everywhere. I can't count how many times I 'almost dropped it' (it was light, so if it was going over, i was able to pull it back up) I learned to never leave my bike running unattended, and I ALWAYS put it in gear and rock it forward before leaning it onto the kickstand. That way, even if on a slope, it's not going to roll forward off the stand. I think that's a pretty good habit to get into.

What happened to me was similar, except that I was stupid. I was on my bike, and got off and walked away with out putting the kickstand down. Luckily, I caught it, but not before it broke my foot peg. Sorry about your mishap.

I did that once but No damage.. I guess Dead lifts saved my bike..

HARD TO BELIEVE!!! The same thing happened to me the day before yesterday5/2/07. I am so lucky the only thing that happened is I bent my clutch lever and scratched tha license plate frame. I have a theory and am interested is anybody agrees. “Lowering the bike Decreases the amount of lean you get from the stock kickstand! This reduces the amount force and friction between the bottom of the kickstand and the road. With the bike, running there is enough vibration to cause the bike to creep forward and throw the center stand back to the ride position?? BAM!!! Your baby is on the ground like a fish out of water… So what do you think? Am I out of my tree or dose this make sense.
I can think of no better group of people to find a solution to this very serious and damaging problem. So please help especially if you have some sort of expertise with this sort of thing. I looked at my bike and no solution was obvious to me. Changing the angle of the kickstand or shortening it will work but not very easy to accomplish.
Thanks for letting me ramble on

O.K. O.K. You guys beaned me with the misspelling of "Churchkey". It's just that my brain thinks "Chrurchill" everytime I say it and that's how it came out....jeez you vultures!!! Ha!

Actually I would stick up for the misspelling of his name as well if I wasn't the one who did it. He seems to be quite the staple of our forum. I'm glad I got into contact with such a wise individual.

Anyways, it does seem like a lot of us have this problem. Is it the bike or do we all just chalk it up to bad luck/carelessness???

If this is a trend with this model, then I would think that Yammi should catch wind of it.

Oh, well. Water under the bridge now...

I always kill it with the stand. That means stand is out and tranny in gear. Can't roll.

+1 And just to be safe...I roll it forward until it's engaged and won't roll anymore. I've never had a bike roll off the kickstand. My condolences on the crashed bike...that would suck.
