Back to this battle, again. Quality vs. Resale. I know that at the end of 5 years I can sell or trade in a warrior and not loose too much between maintenance and mods. As far as a Harley goes, by the time 5 years is up, between insurance, can't really call them mods when the org. part sucked and needed to be replace anyways, and maintenance you've double the cost of the bike ... oh, but if you bought it for 17,000 some how you'll get 17,000+ for it ... yeah, right. Yur still out 10,000+ for all the work you had to do on it. Where's that resale value now?
Funny thing is you can take a Warrior, put 5,000 worth of mods on it. The bike will not only out-perform all Harleys, it will still last forever and a day!!!
Anyways, this rant might be a moot point if my wife doesn't win the car. So, PRAY THAT SHE WIN THE CAR! I'LL BE GETTING MY WARRIOR SOON AFTER!!!

Gang I think lagalaxy8 is on the right path to helping a brother out! We all know the Warrior is badazz!! Now let's expand a little more on what will help Sleepy out.. The Warrior is a better performing machine that requires less revenue to obtain and modify. It is getting (we already knew it) known as a Harley killer - maybe this will satisfy the "image is everything" argument. Look at all the threads referring to HD riders complimenting the Warrior!!! AND NOW TO THE HEART of my thoughts that lagalaxy pointed is in... "honey this means there is a lot more money left for you to get the things that you want and I want to make sure you have, but I'm afraid a HD would deny you of. Since I love you with all my heart and soul I just feel that would be too unfair. So tomorrow we will be going to the Yamaha dealer to pickup the Warrior and then going to (insert her favorite shop) for you to have some fun - deal?!?!"

Now argue with that!!!

Hahahahaha !!! Thats it!!! tell her the warrior makes her look lean and muscular -- like a swim suit model.

I didn't have such problems, talked about getting a bike for months and the g/f said if you want a harley get a harley. I said I prefer jap bikes as they have more power, are more reliable and handle better. I said harleys look cool and have good resale, but are waaaay overpriced. She drove me to the Yamaha dealer and told me to sign after we saw the warrior.

I sold my turbo charged Harley Road King (approx $28,000 new) for $12,600. Not great for resale value. Of course the paper is full of used Harleys with owners asking for what they paid for the bike + modifications + insurance + gas they burned in it. They just don't get it. My wife wanted me to buy another Harley but my financial position is not the same as it was a couple of years ago and paying over list at the dealer and adding a turbo on top of that (I can't handle a stock Harley) was just not feasible. After my wife went for a ride on the Warrior with the Corbin dual touring seat she said she liked it better than my Road King. So, I had to settle for a better bike for less money.

There are a lot of good bikes out in the market place these days. The Warrior in my opinoin is one of the best all aroung bikes for the money. I was talking to the local Harley parts manager today and mentioned that I bought a Warrior. His response was that he would like to ride one as he had heard a lot about them. I like open minded people. As far as women are concerned there are a lot of good ones out there. I wonder if they hold their value when trade in time rolls around. My friends who ride bikes and are still married make me glad I don't have one of those to contend with.[/emoticons/emotion-1.gif]

My fiancee was a total Harley freak when we met and knows a **** of a lot about bikes. Now, she tells everybody with total conviction, honest and sincerity that the warrior is the best bike on the road, bar none. She'll look right in the eyes of a Harley rider and tell them that. I decided to marry her, I don't want to be hanging out with any label loving, status chasing sheep (no offense), this is going to work out fine for me.

Washington you've got a great woman!!! And 200 remember - when force and power won't get you where you want to go try finesse.. I have the balls also, but am wise and savvy enough to quickly size up a scenerio and decide whether to use shear power or finesse. Guess it comes from my basketball days (play "run and gun" or "deliberate and half-court".

well, I've asked time and time again why she wants a Harley over a Warrior. Here is her reply ...
WIFE: Because they have a great resale value.
ME: *Blink, blink* ... And ...
Wife: Well, when you buy a Harley it's like you are part of a family.
ME: *Scratches head* And ... Besides 'resale' what else?
Wife: ...
ME: What about relibilty, performance? Cost?
WIFE: I want to get a Harley.
ME: Here's what we do, we'll go and test drive a Harley and then test drive a Warrior.
WIFE: *Blink, Blink*

And that was about it for the conversation. I have been looking into Harley's. I do like the looks of the Fat Boy. I don't know what the hp is but the torque is 85ft-lb.
Personally, I am drawn to the looks of the Warrior... but isn't that how most relationships start... by attraction? The funny thing is, the first thing I would have changed about the Harley if I got that is the fender. I'd change it too the Bobtail fender ... which the Warrior already has... hmmmm I can save myself, 8,500 buy buying the Warrior. I'd say the Warrior would run me 13,000 to 15,000... the Fatboy is 20,000 to 23,000... then the replacement fender is 370.00 and then another 100.00 for the mounting kit... Where's that value?

Hey, check out the post in the 'Anything Goes' about getting a Big Johnson Motorcycle. It says in there that women agree a Big Johnson is WAY better than a Harley! Seriously, every woman that's seen my Warrior likes it more than a Harley. It's so refreshing to hear them say that they are sick of seeing cookie cutter Harleys. I just wish my wife was alive to see this bike, she'd be nuts about it!

Nothing gets a conversation going more than Harley vs. anything. Several people I know have Harleys and they don't seem to be spending a lot of money on repairs and they never break down on the road when we're riding. The important thing to me is what happens when I twist the throttle and how much did it cost me. Using that criteria the Warrior was the only choice.

Nothing's really changed so far. Right now her biggest argument for not getting abike at all is that 'we can't affod it'. Well, we just bought an Avalanche (my old truck was an S-10 w/145,000 and only a 4 banger, I needed the other 4 cylinders!!!) So, one of two things has to happen for any bike to be in the picture... 1) I need to find a better job (which is in the works) or 2) My wife needs to win that can next weekend. Or, best case sinerio, BOTH!!! We'll see.
My goal is to have a bike by this spring (a Warrior).

While the weather is good, try to test ride some bikes. Take your wife along too. I bought mine in the dead of winter. From what I read here, the dealers weren't as willing to negotiate as it got closer to spring time. Dealers will want to clear out their inventories to make room for the newer models before the next riding season. Good luck.

We're going to test ride three different bikes, the Warrior, a Fatboy and the V-Rod. I'm not even going to put ANY consideration into any of the other cruisers. The VTX seems too outragious to me. 1800CC's and it can't come close to beating the Warrior, I've never really liked Suzuki's or Kawasaki's.
I like the numbers the V-Rod puts up, but as far as comfort goes I'm going to have to see what I think when I ride it. The Fatboy, well, Harleys are born for comfortable cruzing. Thw Warrior, I know they repositioned the passangers foot pegs to add a little comfort.
I love the looks and the performance numbers the Warrior puts out. Plus mods are WAY cheaper than that of the Harley's.
I don't don't want to give up performance for a name, but I also don't want to be an a$$hole to my wife and disregard her as far as purchasing a bike goes. She works too so I don't have any leverage as far as saying I bring home all the money, I get what I want. That's why we're going to test ride so that I can prove to her that the Warrior is a much better buy than a Fatboy. The V-Rod, IMHO, is in a different class being water cooled and all.
Yes, that's right I said I value my wife's opinion, wanna make sumthin of it!!!

If you are after comfort, are you looking at the Roadies at all instead of the FatBoy? Seems like you would get more for your money. I got to spend some time with a FatBoy last weekend on the trip to Deal's Gap, all I can say is the more time I spend riding a Harley and then going back to my Warrior, the better I feel about buying the Yamaha. Absolutely no comparison in the handling between the FatBoy and the Warrior, but I am sure you already know that.

To me, Yamaha just offers so much more motorcycle for your dollar. If a strict comfy cruiser is what you're after, I would check out a Roadie too before making a final decision. I've already ruined a half dozen HD sales this riding season alone by dragging friends of mine that were going to buy a HD into the Yamaha showroom, showing them the Roadies and then telling them to ask the salesguy for a price.
