idle problem

[?]Does any have this problem? [xx(]
When the bike idles sometimes it spikes up to 1300 rpms (higher and lower at times.) And it stays there till if feels like dropping again. Not sure where the problem lies. The throttle returns to normal position without fail, so it doesn't seem to be sticking. The only aftermarket part I have on there that might affect this is the Cobra Fi2004[?](fuel manager.) Could this be a defect on the fuel manager or is somebody else experiencing the same thing with stock settings?
Any advise would be much appreciated.[/emoticons/emotion-2.gif]

It will idle up when cold. It is also normal for it to idle up briefly after restarting a hot engine. Be sure your throttle cable has a little free play. Use the adjustment in the cable just below the twist grip. If its still runnig fast at idle at other times try disconnecting the Cobra thing & see if it returns to normal.

FRED it usually lasts the whole time I'm at a red light. Doesn't seem to be afftecting performance any it still accelerates when I gun it.

THE EDITOR my throttle bodies are untouched. What's a throttle body? (I haven't touched anything in reference to performance in some time now. The only performance tinkering was the COBRA Fi2004, but I installed that a year ago. The only thing I have messed with was the idle screw under the seat to see if it was this. It seems to work fine, I can lower and raise it without problem.)

MUSTANG I've had this problem for about 3 weeks now. It does this spiking thing every time I ride it, on average of 4 to 5 days a week.

CHURCHKEY I'll try the adjustment knob you are refering to and see what happens. Trying to rev the engine doesnt work either cause it goes back to the 1300+ - rpm range, even after its warmed up.

CAMEL maybe your right. But that's the million dollar question, what is that something that is sticking?

Upon further review----
Could be the LCV hanging open or if your riding in cold temps the oil is not getting hot enough to shut the LCV down. LCV is operational untill the oil temp reaches about 178*. LCV controls cold idle speed. Just to check it locate the large 1/2" ID hose that goes to the center port of the LCV & plug it. OR unplug the electrical connector to the LCV.

Set the Fi2000 back the same factory settings it came with. (If you have move the pots at all). It came preset for the Warrior that has pipes installed already. Also, maybe unhook the module and see if there is a difference. I really think it's something else that's causing this rise and fall of the rpm's.
