My tech called yesterday and the recall kit is at the shop! I will take my bike in on Tuesday (He is off Monday and I want to inspect the bike with him there). He only had one kit and was expecting it to arrive around the end of the month. There is no backlog as there is only one vehicle ahead of me (just a tune up job) and only this tech is tasked with performing the recall work.

I ordered the S* pistons, cams, valve springs, clutch spring last month and they arrived six days later so there is no more waiting.

I don't know any other info on ETA of other kits, I am in Mississippi. I will keep everyone posted with the outcome, good or bad.

Great! Congrats to you. I'm in DC. My dealer said they are delivering the kits starting in the south (earlier riding season). He said DC was not scheduled to be in the first shipments - most likely the second. He said the first shipment was supposed to arrive at the end of February. Sounds like things are a little ahead of their projected schedule. One can only hope.

xzvs, Don't know why you are not aware of Southern states being able to ride everyday. All of Florida, Louisana, half of Mississippi and Alabama, and most of Texas is further South than Socal.

Sounds like a good idea to send the kits here first. ****, Florida should of got them before everyone else if you want to use your logic.

I thought that was a burnt moldy pizza at first-- apparantly its his pet sting ray.
I lived for 34 years in New Orleans -- and can tell you its too **** cold and rainy down there. We get about 10" of rain total a year here and its hits about 60 or over every day in the winter. Was sunny and in the 80's last week.

watch it be a roadstar kit.... that would be typical for Yamaha!

Stopped by the dealer today and the shop boss said he used a left over road star kit to fix one of the Warriors on the list. According to him the only difference is that the Warrior kits have LESS parts that are being replaced.
BTW, he said three more weeks for parts for those of us in the Middle Tn. area.

My dealer (same dealer as whalercat) recieved 4 of the RoadStar 1600 kits last week, as he said. First bike in was a friend of mine. Went in on Thursday. I saw it yesterday all taken apart and spread over 2 work benches (clean and orderly). Tech said it should be back together Tue/Wed. A few goodies are going in while it's apart. I'll let you know how it turns out.

My information is that Yamaha Motor Corp, in Cypress, CA, is expecting to receive the first kits for the 1700 March 1, but, they don't think that it will be very many. This info from the Customer Relations folks on Thursday (Feb 12).

My dealer/shop said that they just performed their first 1600 repair this past week. 12 hours, but, they said it was because they are working out all the steps in the process, to assure no paint damage, etc.
