I installed the ET Performance Krank Vent after reading all the different posts I could find about it. It seems to me that the throttlr response was a little better, but that might just be a perceived impression. Anyway, I was ready to hear the rattle of the valve at idle, but not for another sound I am hearing. It's sorta like a low resonance grinding sound at idle, even my wife noticed it riding beside me. I took the KV back off and it went away, so I know that is what is causing it to happen. Is this something caused by the change of pressure inside the engine. It really un-nerving to hear something like this. If it hadn't happened as a result of putting on the Kraqnk Vent, I would have been freakin' out thinking that the motor was coming apart. Has anybody else experienced this ???

I don't have the air box but the KV is under the tank, I put and inline filter on the line and plumped the line to exit at the swing arm pivot point. Yes it does make some noise but this will take care of it. If you have the stock air box you'll still hear some of it because your right over the top of it.

could be the little ball or whatever is inside the KV going back and forth that you are hearing. Most of us have heard a whistle or chirp sound, the old kazzo. I ran a line all the way down to the swing arm, and zip tied it there. Take the tank off and start it up to see if it's the vent valve that's making the noise.

I mounted the Krank Vent under seat and then ran a line down along the reserve tank to exit near the swingarm. The noise is not the ball valve clicking back and forth, it's more like a low rumbling or even a grinding sound. It's almost like the noise is coming from the throttle bodies or top end of the motor. I tried to isolate it using a piece of hose as a stethescope, but couldn't track down the source. It seems to come from deep inside the motor. I have the Barons BAK and the AIS blocked off. Again, if you were along side the bike and heard it, you'd think the motor was in trouble. KV off, no noise...

It reminds me of the old doctor it hurts when I do this joke. The obvious answer is don't use it. I was going to install one once and the more I read about it the less convinced I was that it did anything positive for performance or engine life.

This is the same reason why I never put on on my bike. I dont think I would care for the sound all that much.

Yea--I took it off yeaterday and rode all day. The bike sounds normal again. I thought that I did notice an improvement in throttle responce before I noticed the noise but then I was so freaked out by the noise that I didn't get on it at all until I took it back off. I e-mailed ET Performance to see if they have any insight to this noise...

Just an update, I re-installed the KV, placing it under the seat and ran a hose down to the swing arm. I placed the K&N filter that came with the BAK parts at the end of the lower hose. Everything sounds fine and the bike is running well. I still think that the throttle response is quicker, and a little touchier. Just a very small twist in the lower gears and the bike really takes off, almost to the point of losing your grip.
