Re: Lithuana lower cowls ??

This guy is actually making these and another custom design that he came up with. He had a lot of pictures and things seem to be good quality. What I would imagine he's doing is gel coating originals and casting them into his own. He had one custom one that looked sick..I was the winning bidder but unfortunately lost my job the same day I won the **** cowl..so he let me out of it. I believe his name is Paulius..seemed like a real nice guy..we talked thru email quite a bit.

Re: Lithuana lower cowls ??

just another kind of product piracy. I wonder when this guy gets into trouble with yamaha ...

anyway: Lietuva (Lithuania) is just around the corner behind poland (from my point of view ;-) I remember this country being one of the first (with Latvia and Estonia) that separated from the Soviet Union decades ago.

Germany is also around the corner behind Poland (from my point of view

) and so what? I like Germany, although it took major part in the cause of Russian occupation of LT

Where were we? Oh, yes, Piracy. I saw a few more cases of this kind of "piracy" in here, but I would not call it "piracy" if you do it for your own bike customization or make a few plastic copies of expensive original parts for your friends untill!!! you start a mass production of copied product and start selling it worldwide. So yes, this guy CAN get into trouble with local Yamaha dealership.

BTW: I don't think I would pay a 140$ for this copy. I would... converting to local currency... may be 70-80$.

Re: Lithuana lower cowls ??

Paulious is a pretty cool guy and yes he is in lithuania. I actually was the 1st person to contact him about his customlower cowls for the warrior. He is a 1 man shop and each piece is hand made.I purchased his custom lower cowl and its the only one around a turn 1 off. It took 3 weeks to make it through customs, my bike will be finished by the end of the month so you guy will be able to see it mounted up. Believe me its SICK

I'm totally with you. It starts to become problematic if you sell it (e.g. via ebay). yamaha has a copyright on the lower cowl design and people who buy this fibreglass-cowl probably wont buy the yamaha part anymore...

You know what... Yesterday the buddy of mine came to me to look at feet control extensions that I copied from "Baron's"

. Borrowed them from another buddy and gave them to the water jet guys to cut the exact copy.

So... we had a long conversation about bikes and so and he told that he would like to have lower cowl on his warrior. He even tried to make one from fiberglass just looking at the picture! So it came out that he makes things from fiberglass sometimes.

I knew another buddy who already had an example of the original cowl and called him right away. Yes, he still had it. The first chum went to him and bought it the same day for a few bucks. Now he's got an example and said that he will make one for himself and one for me just for free. Well... I did not contradict :) We will see what he will come up with. I will post some pics if they will be worth posting

P.S. No, it's not the same guy from eBay. The second one neither.
