why the heck would you want to remotely start a warrior in the first place?

 

In Massachusetts it's illegal to put a starter on any vehicle with a clutch. It's my thought that that law makes really good sense. There is a sensor in the clutch mechanism for the N reading.

When I go with an alarm I'd like to have remote start. Course I'd wire it to not start unless in neutral. Now I go outside -- fire the bike --g/f locks door cause she thinks I am going, and switches part of brain off that hears cussing and pounding on garage door--shut bike off-- unlock door-- start bike up -- go in to get jacket helmet and gloves-- girlfriends brain then kicks in and has to ask me to "do something for her before I go".
New scenario
hit garage door remote -- hit remote start - put on jacket gloves helmet -- leave

 

Makes for quick getaways when you find yourself jumping out of a window because the girls boyfriend came home early, (I guess).

 

O.K. This is for you electrical experts out there.

These problem arose while attempting to install a remote start. I was utlizing with the four wires from the main key switch and the starter button wire. After being unsuccesful at the install I removed the remote start, reconnected the factory wires and found the following problems:

While in neutral the bike will crank but not start during which it reads code 19. When I pull the clutch in the code disappears and the bike will start, but as soon as I release it the bike dies.

Another problem I found is the neutral light works if the sidestand is down, however when I raise the sidestand the neutral light illuminates in both neutral and in gear.

I checked the main switch, cut off switch, starter switch, clutch switch, and the sidestand switch which are all o.k.

I currently have the bike drivable by jumping the clutch switch and disconnecting the neutral switch however the bike will not start with the stand down and shows nuetral while in gear.

I know thats alot but any help would be appreciated as I'm not getting anywhere trying to decipher the electrical schematics from the manual.

Kinda hard to diagnose not being there. Sounds like the wires are hooked up wrong tho. Chances are your not going to damage a switch doing an install like that. Will think on it -- and look at schematic (if I can find it on the cd)

 

Holy crap!!!! the 4 wires from the ign sw go straight to the ecu

 

I am guessing you checked all the fuses--I see at least 2 in the circuit

 

code 19 is open circuit detected in the input line from the sidestand switch

 

Fault code 19 = Open Circuit is detected in the input line from the sidestand switch to the ECU.

Yes I did finally figure out code 19 from the manual and have tested the fuses. I have not tested the relays yet, which seem to be were everything is running into. Yes, I also noticed the ECU and I pray it's not fried. Thanks for the comments.

 

I've been thinking about this all morning. It sounds like you have the Clutch lever wired to the Kick stand circut. You have the Kick stand wired to the neutral indicator circut, and the neutral indicator wired to the clutch circut. I would start by disconnecting those three wires. Hook up one circut at a time to make sure you have it going to the right place. Good luck.

 

Remote starter?? On a Warrior??? Ok.. Seems to me that your ECU thinks the bike is in gear... Check you wiring...

 

according to my schematic the clutch sw,neutral sw, and sidestand sw are all on the same wire going to the ecu. Looks like it needs to see a ground there -- how it tells the 3 apart I haven't figured out yet.
Also -- man this is about the worst wiring diagram I have ever seen sheesh!!!

 

Yes Justice you defenatly have the wires crosed? Start over an let us know.

 

I'm going to try to check the relay this week.

I know I rewired the ignition correctly which is why I believe there is a short somewhere but what is more likely to be damaged, the relay or computer. Thanks again for all your comments.

This started out as an alarm project but since the alarm also came with a remote start I decided why not...guess I'll think twice next time before I start wiring using the trial and error method of installing things.

 

If all else fails, read the instructions.

 

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a bit and reconnecting. ECU may need a reset??

 

Yes I did disconnect the battery for a while.

 

Where are you located? Maybe one of the other members could drop by and you could double check the color-code; two heads are better than one!

Well,,, a little too far for me!! Perhaps someone a little closer can help?
If all else fails, I have the shop manual and can try to walk you thru the wiring.

Bottom line is the problem is usually in an area where you were working. So, inspect carefully everywhere you were
Now if you sent 12v to an ecu ground, eeek!!
Likewise switches designed to send ground signals don't much care to have 12v put thru em either
