I double checked my wiring today and everything was o.k.

I then tested the Starting Circuit Cut Off Relay as identified on page 7-25 of the manual.

I had continuity between blue and blue/white as I should, however no continuity when performing the diode tests.

Have I found my problem?

 

looking at manual right now -- looks like you have an open circuit in the diode portion(s) in the relay assy.
Make sure you have your tester leads hooked up as shown, as a diode by definition with not read continuity if tester leads are reversed.
Blue/Yellow seems to be dead in the middle of that circuit so I would chase it back to the diodes and look for the open ckt.

 

Went ahead and bought a new relay ($60). Hope that was it because they won't accept returns on electrical items. Guess I'll find out next week.

 

Hmmmmm the test results you posted would not indicate a bad relay- then again I an not there to verify- test indicates diode /wiring problem

 

Did I misread the manual? On page 7-25 if the diode tests fail it said to replace the relay. I figured the diode's were within the relay.

 

Let me look at the manual again -- its pretty darn hard to decypher that diagram

 

hmmmmm-- the 3 diodes are in the relay?? your right diag tree says replace relay unit. Hmmmmmmmm
I guess the whole thing is not servicable -- sure hope this fixes the problem
I hope to never be in the situation you are -- but dang -- I may have to have a look at mine and see what the heck they are talking about

 

I know what you mean, if I knew a $35 alarm would cost $60 to repair I definately wouldn't have tried it. I will probably still use the alarm without wiring the remote start part of it. I will keep my fingers crossed until the part comes in next week. Thanks for the help.
