hi all, i am a returned rider after a 9 year break, due to the x wife. i bought a 03 warrior new in november last year. it now has 17500ks on it. i had a problem with small rocks getting into the gap at the front of the belt guard resulting in nearly $1000 to renew the belt twice!!! i am making a small plastic insert to rectafy this problem. has any 1 else had this problem? i have also fitted the rear fender eliminator kit. this looks way better with the small irridium blinkers. you have a great site here. the info and pix are great.

Congrats on the ride and welcome to the 4M. You must be riding on alot of gravel roads. I have removed the belt guards altogether and have had no problems. Others have done the same with no problems. When you finish your mod to fix the problem be sure to post some pics for others who may encounter this.[8D]

its not so much gravel roads, its when i pull up! the loose stones stick to the hot rubber, when i tilt the bike onto the sidestand the rocks fall in then. i now check before i ride off. the plastic guard (fashioned from an ice cream container) will close that gap. on the top i plan to use some nylon brush off a semi trailer to close the top hole. i will post picks when im done.

G'day Muncher.

Where in Oz are you mate? There's a bunch of us in SEQLD and other groups in the other states - check out the Australia ride club at the bottom of the forum list. [/emoticons/emotion-1.gif]

I removed my belt guards - no problems yet. Check out net prices for new belts - Spokes got one for a lot less than what Yammi charges.

I have also toured and lived in outback qld for a stint as well. Had to come back to the big smoke for a bit of work. Since i changed the belt i have seen a few after market jobs way cheaper than the original. It would be good to catch up with you fiery. i ride to bundy a few times a year to keep up with mates. will let you know when the next trip is planned.
