Hi Folks,
I'm in love but not married yet!!lol I've got the Warrior bug and I'm shopping my brains out for the love of my life. Sure, I may be nuts for a 60 year old coot but my 1978 Honda CB550 has served me well but I need a change. You guy seem to have most of the answers on the Warrior so I'll ask your advise. Should I look for a late model used bike with many goodies or should I go New? What years should I be looking at? What are the things that I should be on the watch for? Hey Guys, I Need all the help I can Get. I Live on Long Island and there is a nice one on ebay right near me. Item#130025338895. What do you think of it. I emailed the owner and The reserve is 12,000. Thanks in advance for your help! DENNIS

Welcome aboard and good luck shopping! That sounds a little high unless it's got everything already done, and then you miss half the fun! I'ld look around awhile before I jumped in....

Just looked at the auction, that is a really nice bike. I just paid $8,000 for the same one but it was stock except for the exhaust and had 10,000 (very clean) miles on it.

I only wanted to give you that for comparison. With all those mods the price does not seem too out of line considering the mileage. I guess the question you need to ask yourself is do you want a modded bike or do you want a stock one that you can mod yourself?

Either way, happy shopping. [/emoticons/emotion-2.gif]

I prefer to go with a stock, or virtually stock bike then make it my own. Adding all the little things. It's the time and energy that I put into a the bike that truly makes it mine. But saying that, to each his own. Be careful and make sure you check it out thoroughly. After all he does say it has a 2" lowering kit by "Baran". [:I] Not sure I know him. THANK YOU ALL FOR THE WARM WELCOME & FOR THE ADVISE AND INSIGHT.
I guess I'll drive out to at least see this beast. The owner might be will to move a bit on the price since its near the end of the summer and shipping will not be an issue. I wish I had a way to tell whether or not he's been rough on the engine. It only has 1500 miles on it but that could be a 1/4mile at a time..

I was having the exact same issue this summer. I started looking at warriors in June and didn't buy until August. I ended up going with a used stocker with only 550 miles on it. Reason being it was an 05 and he let it go for 8500. I knew I wanted 04 or newer since the tranny recall was for 02-03 and I just didn't want to deal with it. I didn't want new since they are pretty expensive for a 2-wheeler. Decided on stock since I would would be in control of which mods get done and how they get done. Guess I just don't trust other's work unless I can watch. That being said, a VBAK and AIS block would have been nice but it will give me something to do during the long MN winter. Good luck and check cycletrader and the forum classifieds. I found mine on carsoup.
