Should have gone the Avon Storm, but you will learn grasshopper.

Hey, whats with the Avon Storm? Better milage? What advantage do you get with the Storm?

I have been running Bridgestone Battlax's for years - dual compound so I can ridelike the devil when I corner and still get to where I want to be on a roadtrip because ofthe touring centre. However, having said that I still get less than 3,500km's out of a rear tyre (yeah I still dig power take-offs). If there is an alternative out there that can crack the 5,000km mark I want to know about it please.

I have never thought of using Avon, simply because of them being synonimous with HD...and what with me being biast to Jap bikes and all...

Avon storm seems to get really good reviews by most forum members here.

Ok ok, I'm seeing a lot of "

" here but I am not seeing any numbers on average km's. I have spoken to riders who have been to the U.S and they say that our Aussie blacktops are not even close to being in the same league for smoothness, so this brings me to ask what type of average milage (given to a little bit of power-playing) could I (we) get out of an Avon Storm on typical Aussie blacktop?

I'm home grown grasshopper and I was pulling about 8k and my wrist is a bit twitchy as well.

These are rough numbers and they may be a bit different for you.

Everybody that has changed to them has nothing but good to say about them.

You probably need to order them now so that when this set wears out you will have them to be replaced.

They are better than hotcakes at the moment, no sooner does a shipment come in than it is sold out.

I've gone through about 6 sets of Battleaxes. Always got about 8000 Ks out of the rear b4 bald.

Got Storms on now. Put a 190 on rear cos I read it would handle better (I can't pick any difference). These have now done 6000 Ks and they still look absolutely brand new. Mind you, they clocked up 2500 Ks cruising to Wallabadah and the rest have been Melbourne winter kms so probably fairly sedate riding.

So far I luv em but warm weather is here now and the twistys are calling....... the next 2 months will tell me how good they really are

ZOMFG I must be really heavy handed! Sincerely I have never gotten more than 3500km's out of a Battlax rear even when they are dual compound, down to thewire every time...maybe I need to sort myself out. I have gotten 8,000km's out of my current Battlax front (which needs replacing now), but I am so bewildered why I can't make a rear Battlax last???

While I have the chance, was so good to see Stoner on the top podium again. Also gnarly to see Gardner poppin' wheelies around the PI circuit once more...

Here are some numbers to think about. I got 18,346 km out of my last Avon Azaro and could have gotten a couple more km, but it was getting scary slick in the middle. My Avon Storm already has 5600 km on it and still looks new except for the tiny chicken strips on it. I expect it to wear about the same. I don't ride easy, but I also don't do burnouts either. My stock Dunlop got 6800 km and the center peeled out of it showing a lot of cord from the same type of riding. One thing to help your tire wear is to put 40 psi in them so they won't cup.
