Went on a nice ride this past Sunday, from Phoenix to Payson/Pine, and back. Beautiful weather the whole day -- 70s and 80s the whole way. It's a nice ride, with some wide open highway straight-aways, a few sections of mountain twisties and a couple thousand feet of elevation change. 100 miles each way. Went with a couple guys from work -- one on an R1 and the other on an R6. Tons of fun. I know that either of those bikes couldsmoke meunder the right conditions, but I held my own withno problem. They had me easily on top speed, but we kept up with each other nicely. Got the Warrior up to about 120 or 125 -- just short of red-line, on a nice wide open stretch where we were all on our own.
One thing I noticed, when following the R6 through one section of twisties.... those thingsshimmey and slidearound when taking turns at high speeds, if the road surface is just a little bit uneven or bumpy. He had to really ride it to keep his line. Whereas, my big ol' Warrior (about 300 lbs heavier) sticks to the surface so nicely and just powers through anything in its way. I really love my bike. I just wish it didn't give me such aches in my back and legs on the longer rides. I'm keepin' her though...
