Hey Warriors,

Is this really a Yamaha OEM sissy bar? Seen a few on ebay that claim to be OEM but they don't look sturdy enough. Taking a big road trip this summer and want a taller one than my Cobra one to strap luggage to.

Any thoughts or pointers on other aftermarket sissy bars?

There is no oem backrest. There was a Yamaha star accessory catalog backrest, or more accurately a few seats with backrests. Yawn.

The one you pictured is MC Enterprises 291-38 backrest w/pad for '02-'03 (291-33 for '04+). The MC backrest is great for luggage tie-down and very light passengers.

You could also take and have the cobra sissy bar to a machine shop and have it modified taller if you like.

Baldy's sissy bar is very similar looking to the the OEM Yamaha Star Accessory bar but slightly different. See attached OEM bar.

Mine came with a Custom World International sissy bar. It’s low but pretty sturdy.

The mc enterprise is probably the best looking sissy bar for these bike unfortunately like mentioned light passengers....I had one of these snap in half with my wife on the back. She's not what I would consider a big lady but she's got meat in all the right places. If you plan on using it for a passenger I would get something sturdier.
