PCIII Fuel consumption versus standard

After 2 years, finally purchased (second hand) PCIII and installed this following the perfect install. First thing i noticed was that she backfired less... great... second was a bit of starting issue, she bitches a bit when she is cold (like every respected lady). My final shock was fuel consumption though.... going from 185-190 Km to reserve light, now it is 135 Km.... Umpfhhhh, me using my bike daily, this is going to hurt. Appreciate that different maps will give different consumptions and results, but I heard 110 Km on a tank...... this will put me off for the PCIII and the mod I am looking forward too (the BAK, that i just purchased, with thanx, from W1OZ). I have a stock standard bike, with the only fuel altering mod, being my cobra exhaust. I used a standard map with a 2 in 1 exhaust that looked similar. My querie now to the riders, what is your consumption averaged???? (and for some... no not beer /emoticons/emotion-5.gif but petrol....)

First off FDM, you will find that it will run rich until you get it breathing better, which will happen soon I have no doubt, then you need to find some one on the RSWarrior site that has the same set up as you,ie: Cobra pipes and BAK and then down load their map.
You should find that when all is done, that your fuel consumption is as good as what it was before PC111, but you will have a fist full of power that you didn't have before.
Having said all that, the best of course is to get YOUR bike mapped, cause all bikes are different, like people.
Your fuel consumption will of course get worse when you have a twitchy right wrist.
I take it that your Cobra is just a slip on? If so, you need to save for a full system to let your beast exhaust better. You will find that after market ones are bigger headers and are a balanced system. Not saying that the Cobra isn't good, there is just better.
Hope this helps

Thanx for the input Hanz, always appreciated. For the part of finding a map, had an extensive search before i posted this topic, and found.. nothing... This is why i installed an similar map. Maybe this will result in me finding somebody who done this before, and if not, then i have to be the first.... For the cobra pipe, would not want to part with it because it sounds just right, without giving the @#$%$#@ in blue to much reason to pick me up. Next stage is finding a person that can do the job (Dyno) in Brissie.... One flaw i found with the pciii was the TP setting.... does not like it while on 9 V batt power, (High end or 100%) but is a bit harsh while the engine is running... anyone else had this prob?? How i bypassed this was to switch the engine on, and be real quick (eg open throttle, click ok, done ... and tested a couple of times)

Hey Dutchy,

I'm using a map kindly provided by Markshep. He's got almost the same set up as me and was far more economical than the Amospro map a lot of blokes use form the States.

Since that time, however, Spokes has sent me a couple to try out but I've yet to give them a go. As he has a 2 into 1 set up with the V-BAK, it may suit your set up better than Marksheps, I don't know. I can send you all the copies of the maps I have and you can give each of them a try to see which one you like the best.

As Hans has said, once you've got all your fundamental mods sorted out, it's best to get a custom map done. I will probably do that eventually when I get my set up done.

Let me know your email and I'll send you the maps.

Cheers. Fiery

With bigshots, v-bak and pcIII USB, my best fuel consumption was about 230kms before the fuel light! This was after a ride with the Vic warriors at moderate speeds with several full twists during the day.

I have only used one map (markshep's) and can't tell you the difference between it and any other. But I can say that when I installed my PCIII I got about 20 - 30k's more out of a tank and more of a shove in the pants.

To set the throttle position I use the 9v connector with the ign. in the ON position (but don't start it).

Fiery, I was riding with Oz when he got that mileage, we were pushing it hard through the twisties. I sure as **** didn't get that mileage. I couldn't believe it when he hit the freeway to head home and wasn't concert about getting fuel. (I think he must have put a big tank in & aint tellin' /emoticons/emotion-1.gif )
