PCIII Install - Frankenstein's way

I was ready to install my PCIII, using Frankenstein's "Perfect PCIII Install" modifications. Being a little afraid of making changes to the manufacturer's instructiions, I called Dynojet and read to the technician the entire post decribing the unsteady TPS signal during custom mapping. I informed him of the changes I was planning on doing, splicing the gray wire to the yellow at the ECU and splitting the ground and splicing the black/white to the black/blue at the ECU. He stated that they strongly recommend not modifying the install instructions. He said he had no way of knowing if the changes would damage the ECU and advised me not to do it. I installed it per the instructions but haven't ridden it yet. Being pretty new to this site, I was wondering how many others have done the modified install. and if anyone has had any problems with it. Also, if you have done the regular install. were there any problems with mapping? Thanks

I did it, and noticed a difference. It's not a big deal... just connecting to a different location on the same wire (via a better, soldered, connection). I wasn't too happy about how little wire there was to work with, however.
Dynajet pretty much has to say that, so people don't return pcIII's with the wires cut short...

I didn't think the hardwiring was difficult at all. As mentioned above, the toughest thing is working with the short wire length between the ECU and the main wire wrap. It's pretty tight. I opened up the wire wrap a little bit to give me some more room to work. I also popped each of the wires that I was working on out of the ECU as I was doing the cutting/soldering. After the soldering is done, slide some heat shrink over the end and lock them back in place.

Just make sure that you don't make the solder connections too close to the end of the wires, or you might have trouble getting them to snap back into the ECU[/emoticons/emotion-2.gif]

I spoke with dynojet too. Of course they have to say you cannot do that because they cannot deal with the liability. Not their fault.
In fact if you go to a good dynojet tuning center they know about this install trick - I got the idea from my place because they kept having troubles with the TPS read on all Warriors.

Here is another one: Maybe you want to try calling Yamaha to see if they can recommend putting on a Barons Bomber bar with internal wiring (that is cutting and soldering all handlebar wires) or a bigbore kit. [/emoticons/emotion-5.gif] Just kidding!
