Has anyone tried the Pacific Coast Star "Potato Chip" Seat mod? They say on their website that it will lower ride height about 3 inches!?

Guido - thanx for the interest. To be honest, I couldn't sell my ostrich/stingray seat just b/c of everything I went thru to get it and not to mention the cost. It would give you a heartattack! I'm kinda embarrassed to say how much it cost me as well.
I got the genuine ostrich leather and stingray pelt from Thailand when my bro was vacationing there. I gave him my stock seat skin to use as a template. I then spent about a week carefully shaving the stock foam, still cleaning up bits of foam in the garage. Finally, I paid a small fortune for a local upholstery pro to finish it off and recover the new shape with the skin. It was one of those things I just had to complete.
The reason why I'm considering another is b/c I do not want to put the wear and tear of everyday use on my crazy expensive seat.

Looks like a modded stock seat?

yup - it's a modded stock seat w/ core exchange. I was wondering how low it actually got folks and if it was comfy and good quality work....I already have an email into them but wanted some testimonials for those that tried it here....

I had a PCS chip for my VStar 1100. Nice seat, well made but not really designed for long-distance riding. There's only about an inch or so of padding & if you're a big guy like me (240+ lbs) you'll get a bit sore in the hindquarters before too long. The seats are modified stock seats... you have to send them your stock seat in return as a core for the mod. And the turnaround to get a seat is very long... on the order of 2-3 months...

The PCS 'Chip seat is extremely popular with the V-Star 1100 guys. I've owned two 1100's and a total of 3 of the 'Chip seats, so I can vouch for their quality and ride, but not for the Warrior.

On the 1100, it is quite a bit more comfortable, though there's not a lot of padding (obviously) and the seat doesn't have much of a concave shape to keep your rear end inside it. Personally, I would not want to take a long trip with one. Then again, I can't speak about the Warrior version; it looks a bit more comfortable.

The work is very high quality and always looks good. They're a great company and have great customer service, but they are busy! Sometimes things ship out same day or next, sometimes it can take a while. What's important though, is that they'll do the best they can and treat you right. Besides the seats I've purchased from them, I've ordered dozens of other parts, inc. several sets of pipes, forward controls, stretched tanks, etc. Great experience every time. Cary and the gang are good peeps!

i have one on my warrior, and yes it drops you about two to three inchs i like it. I have not been on any long rides with this seat 40/50 or so miles with out to much discomfort its a 100% better than a stock seat. As far as turn around time on getting your seat from PCS if you want it fast you need to mail your seat to them. my turn around was three weeks. If you want a good seat for long rides look in our classifieds i have a corbin for sale at a good price and in good shape with fast delivery.

thanx Mark - because my rear euro fender is molded into the shape of the stock seat pan, my only option is to modify stock seats...Can you pls post a pic of the chip on your warrior?[8D]

Wally - with the amount I want to take off and also wanting for it to push me up an inch or so, I'm thinking I leave that up to the professionals. Besides, will the stock skin still fit very nicely after all that material is taken off and the shape is altered?

BTW, my bike is already lowered 1 1/2" in the rear via Barons, but after doing the Avon 250 mod, I'm calculating the rear height to go back up by about 0.6"....

Hey icepick, could you post a pic of it on your ride. Not the corbin but the chip seat.
thanks.
