Okay, I installed the PCIII...did EXACTLY as told...tired to start bike, and it wouldnt start. Unplugged PCIII...pluggged old ecu in...it started right up...reinstalled PCIII again...won't start...There are no lights on the PCIII... it is hooked up to the ground...but no lights..is it not getting pwer or something? what could cause this... is it a bad one?

What about the wire you had to tap? Are you sure you have a good connection there? Try a voltmeter or 12V test light. Remember, you will only get voltage there for a few seconds when you first turn on the key. No need to try starting it if you aren't getting lights when you first turn the key. That means the PCIII is NOT getting power and/or it's bad.

I just check the limited instructions that came with mine from V&H. They say to double check the connectors - pay particular attention to the tap on the wire from the TPS, and make sure the kill switch is in the run position.

I screwed the ground wire onto the 'computer ground', that is where i first put it...it is actually in the instruction booklet..anyway, i know that is correct...as for the connection at the wire splice, i had already pulled back a 1/16' section of the yellow wire, so the connection between that (in the red housing) and the female connector that also connects to that same set (in a red sheath) are all correct. I am stumped.

There is power to the bike and it starts and runs fine when pc III is not hooked up...when PCIII hooked up it tries to start, but it is like it cant get fuel.

1 other thought. I have the stock pipe on...the fuel map that the dealer said he installed was #14...I have shogun ripsaws, but i havent put them on yet...could that have any effect? like the back pressure isnt enough with map 14 on the stock system, it actually needs the new pipes to start & run? Just a crazy thought.

Any way, any other suggestions...once agian..there are NO on the PCIII...like the green or yellow lights on the left..

Starside, you said "Unplugged PCIII...pluggged old ecu in...it started right up..." That sounds like maybe you are leaving the ECU unplugged when you hook up the PCIII ? If that is the case, be aware that you need the ECU plugged in when using the PCIII. (Sorry for making this obvious comment if I misunderstood you /emoticons/emotion-1.gif

BTW, if you are getting power to the pc3, than when you start the bike the lights on the vertical bar to the left, will light up in a chasing pattern. Once the bike starts then that light bar moves up and down with the throttle action. If you aren't getting lights, then I don't believe you are getting power.

Most of this has already been covered by posts on this thread...

[*]Verify good grounding, the stock ground point near the oil dipstick.
[*]Make sure the supplied 'red wire tap' (mine was red) connector is crimped onto the right colored wire. YELLOW center wire on the wire plug going to the TPS! NOT the grey wire going to the TPS!
[*]The GREY color lead from the Power Commander plugs into this 'red wire tap' = YELLOW wire. I don't know why they didn't use a YELLOW wire lead on the Power Commander... could confuse a few installers
[*]Make sure you unplug the black connecter by the fuel injectors and plug the appropriate male & female connectors inline into the Power Commander connector.
[*]The stock ECU should still be connected to the stock main wiring harness connector. (Long connector with all the wires)
