When you change tires on these bikes does both the front and rear tires need to be the same brand with the same tread like radials on a car?

RW,I have a michelin pilot on the back and a battleaxe020 on the front.I do not notice any ill effects in handling with this set up.

The michelin handles great.I'm not sure of the difference in this and the metzler,I have not had a metzler.The michelin is a soft compound but seems to be wearing good.I put a couple thousand miles on it last year and it is not showing any signs of wear yet.I have not spun this one at all.I did spin the **** out of the stock bridgestone and still got 5500 miles out of it.
