I just recently purchased a Warrior from a friend of mine, who actually took very good care of the bike. (He was in his late 50's)
I've noticed that there is a slight knock in the motor after getting warm. The dealership near me mentioned that it is very normal for this type of bike after hearing it themselves. I'm not sure I should believe them, but don't have anyone close with the same bike to compare with. It also has a slight valve rattle at very low rpm's as you begin to give it a little bit of gas, but it seems to be between idle and 1000rpm. Hopefully, someone can ease my mind if it is normal, or offer some advice as to what I should try to resolve it. It has never had anything but 93 Octane, and again is taken very good care of. The plugs are in good shape, too. I'm wondering if it is idling too low with regard to the valve noise, but am clueless about the slight knock. (You must know that I had a much, much smaller bike prior to this, so am new to this class altogether. ...learning everyday about the bike. If anyone's out there, please advise.

Your idle should be set at 900 + or - 50rpm that could be a cause for the knock off idle also you dont need 93 octane you can use 89 with no worries. The idle adjustment knob is under the front of the seat. Is the bike stock, or does it have an air kit or PCIII?
Sorry originally I said 1200 for idle that is my other bike Frankenstien is right.

measter,

A large VTwin will always make more noticable noise than smaller engines. However there are a few things to consider:
.) Make sure the idle is not set too low. Set it to 900-950 rpm as per Yamaha specs. Some dealers and many people lower that and its not good for your engine
.) Try 87 Octane fuel. The 93 Octane stuff is for high compression engines and not the stock Warrior. You get better milage and some people say the bike runs smoother on 87 Octane. There is a whole weparate thread on fuel going on right now that you might want to chek out.

Hope this helps!

I have the same problem, and I got the rpm around 900, Now I use only 87 gas, and still get knocking on take off after riding the bike for a while and has got up to temp. My dealer suggested 20-50 I have 20-50 full sintec, and still does it; I have given up on this issue, now I just learned to live with it...does my big ass have something to do with it?

First, I want to thank everyone for your input as it has defenitely felt good to know about some of your reccomendations.
I'll check the idle, try lower octane fuel, and see what happens.
This forum is excellent for information as I'd rather talk to people who have the bikes than people who simply sell them. This one is stock as it is, but will probably modify it some once I get the bugs worked out.
Thanks again!!!
