About a year ago I bought the Shorai battery and purchased the tender charger that goes with it. Everything was great last summer and fall. Then i lost the key to my bike and since I wasn’t riding it I did nothing about it for about 5 months. Recently I had new keys made and as expected the battery was dead. I put it in charge mode and it acted like it charged right up. However their isn’t enough power to start the bike now. I have tried several different times over the past month to no avail. The charger says its charging then goes into store mode once its reached a certain level. But as soon as I try to turn the bike over it won’t work. It flickers for a second and that’s it. Did I ruin the battery by not having it in store mode for 5 months? Is there anything else I can try? Seems pretty crazy this would be ruined by sitting around for 5 months.

Two things:
1. Most likely, you've killed your battery. These things don't like going for a long time without being charged. Sometimes, you can get lucky and you can bring it back with some proper charging/discharging... but not terribly likely. :/
2. When you jump if off your car, you're not starting your car, are you? That will KILL your bike's electrical system. It's not configured to receive the amperage your alternator puts out. Just something to remember. When jumping off a car/truck/anything larger than another motorcycle, keep the donor vehicle off and just connect to the battery. You won't kill your donor battery, regardless of how long it takes to start your bike. I fried my first bike's electrical by doing this incorrectly.

Hope that's helpful.

Also, I know some guys on here have more experience with those batteries and chargers. Maybe they know something I don't with regards to bringing back your battery... fingers crossed for you.

Contact Shorai and put them into the loop. I heard somewhere that if a Shorai goes bad like that, they have a way to energize the cells from near-zero. It might involve a local brick-and-mortor shop in their dealer network. But candidly it's been a long time and I don't recall the particulars. I hope you'll post findings here so we all learn along with you.

Thank you for saving my electrical system. I never really thought about that. I only jumped it one time so hopefully I didn’t screw things up too badly. And yeah seems like I killed. Chalk it up to a couple hard lessons learned. Thanks

I sent an email out to them this morning. I’ll keep you posted if/when I get a response back from them. Good advice.
